Pros: Price, third USB port, Toshiba worldwide support Cons: Poorly manufactured with flimsy parts, unreliable
Let's be honest, I bought this machine for the price and the Toshiba name. Well, let's be brutally honest, I bought this computer for the price alone. That it had the Toshiba name only kept me from buying a no-name system. I knew it was a compromise ...
Pros: Good laptop with the Toshiba reputation.
Absolutely no technical problems encountered. Cons: Back of case cracked.
Tends to run hot
I loved this laptop, but it always had a tendency to be difficult to shut. Whenever I tried to close the laptop, it would stick. I even went so far as to spray WD-40 carefully in each hinge a couple of times, but that only worked for a day or so. I'm...
Pros: Affordable, reliable, fast, portable Cons: Touch pad can get annoying sometimes
I got my Toshiba on Super Bowl day this year. I've been wanting to get one forever, and suddenly I found this great deal from Staples. This notebook had $350 on rebates, so it ended up being an awesome deal (notice I wrote $990 as the price, but after...
Pros: high weight/performance ratio ditto for cost/performance Cons: just average screen, somewhat noisy fan, no cd burner
Purchased first laptop after Thanksgiving 2002 as desktop replacement/wireless station in my 4 computer household (read: i wanted one all to myself). Had to go cheap, due to waf (wife acceptance factor). price:$650 after rebates. performance: what you ...
Pros: cheap for the specs you get, nice screen Cons: mine plus a friend's broke in the first month
There's no doubt that the specs on this machine represent a great deal for the low price. But, mine wouldn't boot the second week I owned it, requiring a drive to a service center, which kept it 5 days and had to replace the motherboard(absurd on a brand...
Got it at CompUSA a year ago for around $650 after a load of rebates (9 of the 11 rebaters came through with the $, 2 didn't!)...plus, no need to make a payment for 1.5 years, no interest!!!...Can't beat that deal with a stick, especially since the ...
Pros: Cheap
Solid
Portable
Nice power management system Cons: weak speakers
I've had mine for two years. I've cooked it in the burning sun, dropped it, and backpacked it for untold miles. It's starting to show its wear a bit, but runs perfectly, and I've had not one pixel problem. What else can I say? Almost bulletproof.
Pros: Stable machine, DVD/CD-Rom Standard Cons: Gets Very Warm
I have had mine for a few years now and have had no major problems. It runs reliably, fast and durable. I did upgrade the memory to. After a couple of good falls the only damage is to the case near the hinges of the screen. The battery is starting to loose some of its life, but is sufficient. My main complaint is this thing gets HOT!! Its a laptop and a heating pad all in one.
Pros: Utilities such as power management and good website for downloads ie., updating bios etc Cons: Backlight inverter went bad, but hey, nothing is perfect in this world, cheap fix.
I bought my Satellite back in January of 03'. I've been using this daily for 3 years and have never had any hardware problems. This thing has been dropped, liquid spills, stepped on by my kids and it is a brute. In the winter it keeps my lap warm and cozy. I would purchase another one in a heart beat. Toshiba has a good product.
It's my work horse! It's never crashed.... by terrieb ,May 31 '05
Pros: Heavy duty, never cracked, never crashed, great for traveling professionals. Cons: It's heavy, or rather heavier than most.
I have had my lap top for several years. I use it for work. It's a little heavier than what's currently hot but I have many LARGE programs running on it and never once has it crashed!
The case itself is very sturdy. I know some laptop screens bend causing the screen to crack... No problems here.
The only thing I don't like - and it's minor - is the touch mouse pad. It's centered for the computer but not for where hands should be placed for typing so you'll be bound to hit the mouse pad occasionally. I simply turned it off and attach a mouse.
