Pros: Plenty of storage space, attractive price, portable and compatible, easy to install. Cons: Drive is WIDE - may be tight squeeze in recessed USB ports.
If you read your OfficeMax Sunday advertising supplement, perhaps you also saw the great deal offered for the Lexar 512 MB USB Secure Jump Drive. The price of $19.95 after a $25 instant rebate and $15 mail-in rebate for 512 MB of storage attracted ...
Pros: Fast, relatively inexpensive, highly portable, easy to use Cons: Less capacity than advertised, cap has no lanyard, software somewhat cumbersome to use
I purchased the 512 Mb secure drive at Wal-Mart because I needed something portable that would be practically universal. I attend college and we use these drives to swap notes and presentations. The Lexar JumpDrive Secure fits the bill as far as the ...
Pros: Simple to use, comfortable to handle, cheap way to "upgrade" my laptop, indestructable Cons: None I can think of.
Oh, yeah, that's a Timex. Well, Timex dosen't have anything on Lexar. I just HAVE to update this review because I am sooooooooooooooooo happy with this gadget - I have been working 20 hour days for the past couple of weeks, and traveling between islands. ...
Pros: easy, fast, reliable. Good price. Cons: cap too flimsy, easy to loose.
I recently purchased the lexar jumpdrive secure at my local Best Buy. I was tired of burning CD after CD to transfer work from my school computer to my desktop system. I purchased this drive because it gave me the best bang for my buck - the cheapest ...
Pros: Lightweight, decent capacity, security software. Cons: Bulky (for a USB drive), cap not attached to device.
This was an impulse purchase. I was in the mood for another gadget and just happened to be at Walmart. This drive is a good way to carry around files and performs well. The security/password feature is pretty nifty, great for paranoid people like ...
Pros: light, small, brand name Cons: secure area software need some work.
Overall : I give this product a B- grade. This drive give you the ability to set password on the drive, so if you lose the drive, the data will not be easily extracted. It is light and compact. However, the secure area needs some discipline to work ...
Pros: Very secure (password protected), reliable, changable drive areas, and easy to use Cons: None
I bought the Lexar 512 MB Jump Drive to be able to securely transport documents to and from work without the hassle of worrying whether someone else could gain access to my information. The unit allows you to choose how much of the drive you want to ...
Pros: Capacity, shape, rubber edges, form factor Cons: No lanyard for cap, no security for old OSes
I picked one of these at an OfficeMax advertising a rebate. (Gotta love those rebates; they provide an incentive to buy the item.) I've had good luck with Lexar flash memory in the past, so the brand name helped with the decision.
I like the rubberized edges, which makes the drive easy to handle, insert, and remove. Unfortunately, as my fellow Epinions reviewers already observed, there's nothing securing the cap to the unit, which could result in a lost cap. Nor is it possible to insert the drive into tight spaces. An extension cord (not included) is recommended.
There is a ring on the drive, which enables it to be placed on a lanyard or keychain. And there's a small LED which flashes or lights when the drive is in use.
One thing I should note is that the security feature requires a DLL that's included on Windows 2000 or XP only. If you're running Windows 98 (or earlier), the drive is still usable, but the security feature isn't usable. One workaround for older OSes is to rename the Autorun file to _Autorun to disable the use of the security feature.
I got my Lexar drive over a year ago. The only bad thing that I can say about it is that it looks like it has been in a war zone. All the lettering is gone and the silver paint has rubbed off in places.
It still works every time it is plugged in and has never met a computer it didn't like. The cap still fits securely. The plastic body has no cracks and the soft sides are attached securely.
It is large enough that I can always find it in my pocket. It is easy to hold on to due to the size and the rubber grips.
The guy I work with liked mine so well that he got one just like it. His has had no problems with his drive.
