MA Audio HK4000D Car Amp

Pros: Puts Out Serious Power. Price (Online).
Cons: Brand. Overheats. Distortion.

This is one beast of an amp. It puts out some major power, but at a cost.

I first came in contact with the HK4000D through a local authorized retailer. Let's just say that this amp is not as top notch as some may seem. For starters, MA Audio is not a "name brand" company in the eyes of the car audio community. This is not to say they don't have some good products, or they aren't worth the money; however, generally speaking it is considered a middle of the road brand.

The HK4000D was hooked up to 2 15" Kicker L7's. After around 45 minutes of continuously playing music the amplifier became hot.

Pros: It puts out a significant amount of power (it really made the 15's bump... HARD.

Cons: It has an overheating problem. The S/N ratio and distortion of the unit is not very good. The amplifier is not a name brand and it shows.

Pros: Amazing Sound, High Power, Superior Construction,
Cons: Price.... and thats all.

This is one of the most amazing amps I have ever seen. I used to run a Rockford Fosgate 1000BD with two pioneer 15" woofers, and recently I completely changed my system. I bought the HK4000D, 2 audiobahn Flame excursion woofers and an Obcon GZ-122 enclosure. These 12"s put my 15"s to shame. The amp puts out 3600 WRMS at 14.4 volts. The woofer are 1500 WRMS each, and these things pound like theres no tomorrow. I couldn't ask for a better amp. I paid $900 for it, and it was worth every penny. The amp stays cool, even with it running at high volumes, thanks to the fan cooling. I would recommend this amp to anyone who wants the best system on the block. I wish it had been a little nicer on the pocketbook, but it was worth it
