It works, but if you can get a better one, go for it!

Pros: It works with USB 1 Macs. Cons: The video is bad!
I gave my sister and niece Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX webcams. I decided I wanted in on the fun, too. I'd read that lots of Windows cameras would work for Macs, which wasn't entirely correct. My older eMac has USB 1 ports. Newer Macs, and newer computers in general, have USB 2 ports. Anyone who has USB ports should just buy a better camera.
For those of us trying to get by with an older computer, the Macally Icecam does work. The picture is small, grainy, and blurry. The manual focus ring works, but it's a hassle. Care should be taken with lighting, too. My computer's aging circuitry doesn't seem to allow 30 frames per second. Sometimes the video doesn't keep up with my voice.
The camera will work with Skype, but you may need to poke around on the Web to get it right. It can also be used to make various videos.
