Pros: Quality, price, hardshell case Cons: Playability not as comfortable as a Gibson, Good for smaller hands, Dark sound
Martin D-15 Ive been chronicling my search for a companion guitar for my veteran acoustic Alvarez-Yairi Super Deluxe Dreadnought as I got frustrated retuning the A-Y to try to get better in the Delta Blues idiom with slide. Usually you use open ...
Pros: nice, lively sound; easy to play; all solid wood Cons: doesn't have the deep, resonant bass of the D-28
I’m going to attempt something difficult for me: to write a guitar review that does not go on and on. It is about a basic guitar, so I will attempt a basic review.
You know you have “arrived” when you buy your first all-solid-wood guitar. That...
Pros: Rich tones, great action, a joy to hold and play. Cons: Absolutely none!
Note: This review is of the Martin D15 Custom (with mahogany sides and back built for Musician's Friend by Martin ... fully warranteed and registerable) and NOT the dark mahogany D15 guitar pictured here. Mine has a satin spruce top!) After playing a ...
Pros: Resonates like a beast, natural looks, Martin quality, affordable Cons: Only available at Musiciansfriend.com - can you say monopoly?
This is a review of the spruce top with mahogony back and sides version of the D-15 sold only on musiciansfriend.com. The guitar is awesome, and the claims that the sound only gets better with age is true. In fact even the times when it's been ...
Pros: none; it's a basic solid wood dreadnought that has no deficiencies nor any proficiencies. Cons: none; it's a basic solid wood dreadnought that has no deficiencies nor any proficiencies.
Having began playing less than a year ago, and having law school looking me in the face less than a year away, I needed a nice-sounding acoustic guitar that would discourage me from quitting, especially in that critical time (i've been told) from when ...
Pros: Affordable, solid mahogany dreadnaught with a pleasantly different appearance from the crowd. Cons: Interior finish not as good as I would expect from a manufacturer of this reputation.
I recently bought another guitar, my fifth, and find myself sufficiently impressed with it as to want to share my thoughts with my fellow Epinions readers.
When I went looking for a guitar, I was not sure exactly what to buy. I had always...
Pros: GREAT GUITAR-GREAT PRICE! SEEK THESE OUT AND PLAY THEM!!! Cons: NOT ALL ARE GREAT SOUNDING-SOME BETTER THAN OTHERS
THIS IS THE SECOND EXCEPTIONAL GUITAR/VALUE I HAVE FOUND IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS, THE FIRST WAS THE TACOMA DM18-SEE MY REVIEW. THIS MARTIN IS A GREAT GUITAR, AGAIN AT A REASONABLE PRICE FOR A SOLID WOOD GUITAR. SINCE THESE HAVE A MAHOGANY TOP INSTEAD OF...
Pros: It has nice action and has very nice sound and price Cons: It doesn't have as much of a bass sound as some other Martin's
The Martin D - 15 is an amazing guitar. I first played it at a guitar center in Paramus and I completely fell in love with not only its looks, but also its sound. My first acoustic was an acoustic electric combo and believe me it sounded great and...
Pros: Loud, warm sound. Amazing sustain and resonance. Typical Martin quality at a great value. Cons: Cosmetically speaking, it will not impress. Very "Plain Jane".
Why I Like The Martin D-15: I had recently purchased this guitar through Musician's Friend only a month ago, and I must say I am very satisfied with it. The wood was good, and the neck was straight. Upon my inspections, no dead spots or fret ...
Pros: light weight, beautiful warm tones, affordable Cons: none I can think of
This guitar is a great buy for the price. The action is low and it produces a warm, full, rich tone. The neck is solid and the body is lightweight. The front of the guitar has a mahogany top. This helps produce that warmer tone. The neck did not have ...
Pros: The sound, the feel and the smell, and it's a MARTIN. Cons: Looks, lightness, loudness
I owed myself a new guitar. I had been torturing myself with a ten year old Oscar-Schmidt that had been cutting into my fingers and my eardrums for ages. Even though I am not an accomplished guitarist by any stretch of the imagination I felt that if I ...
I have been playing guitar for a while and wanted to learn how to play Ki ho'alu ( Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar ). I was looking for 6 string acoustic guitar that was well balanced, looked great, played great, without spending tons of money. I must have...
Pros: Inexpensive for a solid wood. Looks beautiful. Cons: top heavy. no glossed top. extremely fragile.
I bought this guitar for $530 at Chuck Levin's in Wheaton Maryland. I liked it because it looked different. It was the first good acoustic i owned. It immediatly made my playing better because it was easy to play. It sounds pretty good too. Now i own ...
I am a beginner guitarist and was attracted to the rich sound of the D-15. One of the major points that the salesman at Guitar Center kept emphasizing was the thouroughness of the Martin warranty. As I was practicing for the first couple of months, I ...
The understated beauty that is this guitar by chrisr3368 ,Jun 27 '05
Pros: Great for fingerpicking, well rounded sound, light, and dependable. Beautiful. Cons: Could be just a tad louder.
I walked into the guitar shop with one thing in mind:
Get a normal looking acoustic with onboard electronics. It wasnt long before i was looking at Ibanez's and Alvarez's. They were so so, but a little to dull for my taste. My uncle then picked up this guitar off the shelf and started to play it. I was amazed! At first I wasnt too attracted to this "ugly duckling", but after a few fingerpicking lines, and a few G chords, I knew I had to get it. I still wasnt too big of a fan of its looks, but i knew i was just being immature about it. Since getting that guitar, ive gone back to the shop numerous times, and tried OM21's and D-28's to name a few. Nothing compares to my D-15. I go home, and I pick it up and wonder what i would do without it. It's a beautiful guitar, and definitely not a cookie cutter design. Well rounded sound, stable, light, and resonant. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone, no matter what price range or taste. Perfect all around.
