Pros: Very good cooling power, digital thermostat, remote control, timer, "drip-free" moisture removal. Cons: Quieter than most portable air conditioners, but still noisier than a quiet window unit.
Is it a surprise to find a $600 appliance that actually works as it is supposed to work? Well, if you're talking about portable air conditioners, the answer is a very definite, "Yes." Having had some experiences with a few different brands of ...
Pros: No installation help needed! NO MORE MOLD AND MILDEW! Cons: None
I purchased one of these air conditioners last year. Everyone advised me not to buy a portable air conditioner because they said that it wouldn't cool like a window one....Well, they all were WRONG!.. I now have two (2)..I purchased another this year for ...
Pros: Size, BTU rating, good warranty, easy to use. Cons: Short lived, impossible to obtain warranty service.
We bought this 9000 BTU unit about 60 days ago. What sold us was the price, the BTU rating, the design and it's five year warranty. We've converted one bay of our garage to a kennel for the dogs. The area needed cooling, so this unit was just about ...
Pros: Quiet, Efficient, Maintenance Free, Convenient, Not too expensive. Cons: A sliding glass door adapter would be nice.
I purchased the 9,000 BTU version of this from Home Depot for $499 plus tax about 2 months ago, because I felt it was a good idea to wait some time before writing a review to get a true feel for this product, and I am very satisfied with the unit. ...
Pros: Good cooling Power. I love this machine. Cons: None yet
I bought it two months ago to cool my one bedroom apartment. Yesterday I thought it was broke until I realized that a brief power outage had changed the temperature setting. After resetting to the desired temperature it works fine again. I empty the water tray about once a week.
Maytag Portable A/C Works Great by rjmnwso ,May 11 '06
Pros: Runs great Cons: difficult to get repaired.
I came across this sight while looking to replace my current 2 year old Maytag Portable AC Unit. It has served me quiet well in those two years. However, when it came time to have it repaired due to no longer cooling the maytag repair service here in town, of which it was the only one, would not service it.
So if you do get this portable AC unit ask not how well it runs, ask how easy is it to get repaired.
The best of the best forget all the rest. by frugalmcdugal ,Sep 29 '05
Pros: There's too many to list! Just buy one if you can find one! Cons: The only con is that this unit has been discontinued.
I actually bought this unit off a friend who only had it for about 6 months. The only reason I was able to pry it away from them was because they moved into a fully air conditioned house in a cooler climate.
Since I live in sunny and pretty hot Southern California I am very glad to have this air conditioner. I have it in my bedroom and it cools it great! It is easy to move around and easier to set up. I am really lazy so it is very nice to have the remote control so I can adjust the settings to my ever changing needs.
The quiet operation is definitely a bonus feature. I swear it helps me sleep at night.
I just hope Maytag continues this unit cause it would be a shame for more people to not be able to share in the wonderful experience of owning one.
Pros: Cools fast, runs quietly, never have to empty water tray. Cons: None
Great portable AC. Runs like a charm. Never have to empty it. I live in Hawaii and use this AC to cool our bedroom which has loft ceilings. Cools the room beautifully and requires very little maintenance. Had other portable air conditioners before and this one sure is the best.
Pros: It works great - if your room is too small - You WILL FREEZE!! Cons: none - except replacement parts appear to be difficult to find at the moment.
I love this unit and used it in my small apartment until we moved last year. I now have a basement room I would love to use it in, but unfortunately the window vent (the piece that hold the exhaust tube) broke while we were moving. I went online to try to find replacement parts - but all I found was this page.
Pros: Easy installation, Has wheels, Styleish, Timer, Blows alot of cool air. Cons: Heavy, Bulky, im not so sure about the 9000 BTU
Well my first impression was WOW! It is a very large portable a/c. More like a medium sized frige lol. Installation was easy, though my window is larger then the avg window..so I had to ghetto rig it a bit. Screws took a few mins to get into the window piece, nothing to major though.
I am not sure about the 'no draining required' I have drained it twice in the past 2 hours and got alot of water out. It says it will recycle the water, but after listening to it gargle for 20 mins I just went ahead and emptied it.
The tempreture is at a steady 79 degree's. My room is very small 8x6, but I do have a 400 watt computer running..which makes alot of heat. Hopefully it will get cooler then 79 degree's...because I paid $450 for this. I can't say much more about it as I have only had it for a few hours.
The Greatest gift ever given to me Thank You Brandy by makana63 ,Jun 08 '08
Pros: Best gift ever given in my life Thank You Brandy Cons: too heavy window hose connection but I applied strength to window connection
Given as a gift 4 years ago. Thank You Brandy I know you still love me but it shows your compassion for friends and family. My ex girlfriend made her new boyfriend give me this air conditioner after they had purchased it. A week later it was given to me by them as a gift because of my living conditions and health. I love them both they are truly good and god blessed people. I had this unit on since 4 years ago and never turned the unit off except for cleaning which was monthly. I not once emptied the water to drain any moisture from unit. I tried and nothing always came out. It cooled my room more than I could imagine. I recommend this to anyone seeking a portable unit.
