This fabulous dryer entered my home after the sad and unfortunate demise of my 25 year old G.E. On it's 5th load for the day, smoke started pouring out of the door, which led me to believe it's day was done! I unplugged the poor but faithful thing,...

After 30 years our Maytag dryer's motor bearings finally went out, and it was time for a new dryer. I love the Maytag dependability so I bought this new dryer.
The dryer is easy to use, and has a moisture sensing cycle that really works...
Over the years, the dryers we have used have all been lower end dryers. Most have performed okay, but within a few years the other half would have to drag out his toolbox and get to work....Thank goodness for having...

I purchased the Maytag Dependable Electric Dryer MDE9206 . First of all because I was so pleased with my matching washer. I have found it be a very economical dryer to use. It is well worth the money ! I find that it is very fast at drying my clothes. It...
Our first dryer was a Maytag that lasted 25 years for 7 people. We bought a Maytag again but the motor failed in less than 5 years! I am very upset about this! Obviously, there is a poor design here. I thought I could count on Maytag.
Maytag!! Not what they used to be ! by ddpierson ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: Motor only good for 3 years Cons: Engineering problem causes premature motor failure
If your looking to spend a bunch of money on a clothes dryer that will only last 3 years before the motor is toast then Maytag is for you ! Don't count on Maytag to stand behind their product either. Their customer service rep laughed at me on the phone !
Pros: Easy to use. Cons: Inferior motor, Poorly designed lint exhaust
I bought this dryer 4 years ago, brand new, on the assumption I would rather put quality before whistles and bells. Big mistake!
The motor burned up in 4 years (almost to the day). The rest of the machine is in pristine condition as I am the type of person that performs preventative maintenance 1-2 times per year. Replacement cost of the motor was $150 if I did it myself. This approaches half the cost of a new machine, especially when you add the fact that the motor switch was bad as well (an additional $50).
I also had the same problem as another reviewer with lint getting by lint trap. Tough to clean out because of the design of the molded plastic piece, even when disassembled.
I am amazed that a motor would fail before I even had a chance to replace the drum belt! This machine will be going to the landfill after 4 years use by 2 individuals. Pretty darn sad. I will not buy any more Maytag products.
