Pros: Quiet, great in lifting stains out, cleaner clothes, less drying time needed Cons: Expensive and fingerprints are noticeable
I thought I would go ahead and comment on the 9800 because there are very few reviews I could find on it when I was looking to purchase one. I am so pleased with the performance of this washer (and dryer). It is very quiet. One must READ the manual ...
Pros: Sleek electronic controls;
Favorites cycle;
High-efficiency with no agitator;
Spin and/or rinse cycle;
Delay Cons: Expensive
Mold in bleach dispenser
Fabric softener dispenser is failing
UPDATE (Apr 23,2006): No one needs to be warned off this machine as Maytag discontinued it a few months ago. According to web articles, there were many complaints of twisted clothing and other issues so it is no longer made or sold. They will ...
Pros: Fits more wash into the tub than regular washer Cons: Too noisy, too little water, not enough cleaning action, locked top during cycles.
I purchased this washer because there was no agitator. I was tired of unwinding my clothes from the center of my last washer. I paid BIG money for this thing and thought I would be happy. What I did was to assume some things about it that are now ...
Pros: cleans well at times. Meile will clean better. Cons: Expensive and still in the developing stage where bugs arent worked out.
I won't give this review to cover all the bases of the machine, as frankly I don't find it necessary or even productive to write a novel about a washer. I will leave that for the career reviewers. I'm just giving my opinion of my experience with the ...
Pros: None Cons: Smells bad, wrings clothes into knots and POOR customer service
We have had this machine about two years now, and if it hadn't been so darned expensive it would be out on the curb about now. We paid over 1000 dollars total for this thing, thinking we had the Cadillac of washers...boy were we wrong! First, almost ...
We bought our washer & dryer in 2004. I was so excited, however that was very short lived. So far we have had the magnetic locks freeze up on the lid which will not allow the machine to operate AT ALL! Then one day about a week later I pushed the start ...
Pros: Looks nice. Holds lots of clothes Cons: Clothes in knots. Dribbles bleach on next load.
Can't open without draining. Expensive!
After 30 years of marriage, my wife wanted a matched washer and drier and wanted the best. So, we thought we had it in Maytag. This top loader is awful! While we have had zero repair issues, the design is terrible. Clothes come out twisted into knots. ...
Pros: The washer is pretty looking. Cons: Pretty is all it is.
After 18 years, I needed to replace my washer and dryer. I thought I would treat myself to the best so I bought the new Neptune washer and dryer by Maytag. The salesperson at Lowe's said the Maytag Neptune was the top of the line and I would be very ...
Pros: Looks nice. Heavy duty cabinet. Cons: Will not wash & spin small loads. Ties clothes in knots. Poor cleaning.
The Maytag of the past is long gone! Yes, it has a strong, durable cabinet that is better than most. Yes, it looks nice. Yes, it's expensive. BUT, when it comes to washing clothes it is a lemon. Do not allow yourself to be tempted or swayed into buying ...
Pros: None Cons: Maytag Customer Service, Poor Quality, Parts Availability
We purchased this machine last summer and after 15 months of horribly tangled twisted clothes, substandard cleaning, extremely long wash cycles and a malfunctioning control panel, it finally failed to start. Maytag didn't have the repair part in stock ...
Pros: There are none. My machine still isn't working after 6 weeks. Cons: Don't buy one...Maytag's customer service is a complete failure.
We purchased this machine in the fall of 2005. It worked great for about 3 months and then went completely dead one morning...it is now more than 6 weeks later and 5 separate service calls and it still isn't fixed. The customer service and corporate contacts at Maytag have been rude and are totally incompetent. They've made it very clear to me that the policy at Maytag is to NEVER replace and only repair when the appliance is under warranty...but after 6 weeks they still can't seem to get it right. We've given up hope that it will ever get fixed and thank goodness for Home Depot who we purchased it from...they feel so badly for us that they are going to take it back and give us our money back. We are going to buy another machine from them and I can assure you it won't be another Maytag.
Pros: Washes the clothes very well and very efficiently Cons: too many problems and Maytag doesn't provide any help.
I wouldn't recommend the neptune. They have mold problems that you can't fix. The maytag person said they have no way of getting some of the water out of the drum and you can't really get rid of the mildew smell. Also the motor, pump, and circuit board are prone to faliure. They are also VERY expensive to fix if it is out of warranty.
Pros: I cannot say anything good about this washer. Cons: Wont spin light loads.
I have had the same problem with my new Maytag Neptune toploader as one of the previous posters. It will not spin a light load, such as one set of sheets. It becomes unbalanced during the spin cycle. It still will not spin after redistributing the load. We have to continue adding clothes, usually towels to the load to achieve just the right balance of weight. We have had the service tech out twice with no results. After the first visit he just told me to rearrange the clothes. What a joke! Imagine that, a 40 yo housewife and mother of two that doesn't know how to operate a washer! He is coming out again soon with a new clutch. If that doesn't fix it, we will go to Sears and see what they will do. I would be happy to trade it for a Kenmore like I had for 20 years before with no problem. This machine is a joke!
I gave up and bought an LG by kangarod ,Mar 23 '07
Pros: They no longer sell the machine. Cons: Won't clean because it doesn't use water!
We bought our Neptune TL in 2004 because we were told it would do large loads. Our clothes were not coming out clean so I stopped it in the wash cycle unlocked the lid and look inside to find hardly any water. When the repairman came out he said that was normal. Also it keep leaving soap stains on my white shirts because they were not rinsing. After three years we gave up and bought a front loader LG. I will not sell the old Neptune to anyone else because I have standards and do not want to rip someone off like Maytag did to me. It is going to the landfill. Shame on you Maytag. I will never buy one of your products again. You should refund us our money.
Wrinkles clothing too much. by fedupagain ,Jun 03 '08
Pros: Quiet, smooth running. Cons: Wrinkles everything and puts everything into knots after spinning.
I purchased my washer in Dec 07. I am very unhappy with the way it wrinkles all the clothing. I prefer to hang my laundry outside, weather permitting, but I have to iron everything to look decent. Had I read the reviews I have been reading here I never would have purchased this washer. I have used Maytag washers and dryers for at least 40 years and this is the worst one I have ever had. The store where I purchased it doesn't seem to want to help me with the problem. I don't recommend this washer at all.
