we replaced our old GE with this model recently. it has lived up to our expectations of being able to reheat leftovers, cook vegetables, melt butter plus the usual small chores when cooking larger meals. it is easy to clean, and the turntable is easy to remove and replace when it is washed.
the fan is adequate, and the light is sufficient to be helpful at night.
we live at 4100', and i have not noticed a significant difference in cooking times.
overall, i am happy with it.

Loved the MMV4205 until it blew out after only 13 months - just after the warranty expired. The Maytag service company is the worst. After I paid for the initial estimate, they missed the follow up appointments and never came back.

I'll NEVER buy anything else from Maytag!!!

Pros: Love the melting, softening and defrosting programming.  Makes perfect popcorn.
Cons: Poor quality.  Unreliable.

I love the way this microwave looks and works BUT it has not been reliable.  When it was 3 or 4 months old, it quit working.  The repairman discovered the internal wiring had been done incorrectly, causing wires to come in contact with something hot and burn through.  Not exactly a confidence-inspiring thing.

Now - if I boil water on my stove, the fan will randomly turn itself on and off.  I can't shut the fan off with the button.  The problem has gotten steadily worse.  It used to stop after an hour or so, but now it has been going on for four days!  I have to unplug it.  It is only three years old and I have to call for repair a second time?  Not good!

My Maytag over the range died after about 22 months. Paid $75 for a service call and they eventually replaced the key pad several weeks later. That did not fix the problem and they wanted another $150 to open the whole unit up for a repair that they could not guarantee would be covered by the warranty.

Customer Service was no use. Called and wrote company to no response. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT AGAIN!!!

First unit lasted approximately 2 weeks before going bad. Unit would completely shutdown. Nothing on the display. After approximately 30 minutes unit would come back to life. Returned to store of original purchase. No replacements were available and would have to be special ordered.

Went to another store and purchased the new and approved version for an additional 100 bucks. After approximately one week the same problem has appeared. I'm done with Maytag. As soon as I can rip this thing out it is going back and I'll find another manufacturer to try this go around.
