Is it live, NO it’s MP3: Memorex Biomorph™

by jckatz Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 26 '04
Pros: Low cost, met all my needs
Cons: Eat Buds hurt, doesn’t remember location when turned off.
This is what I told the sales person at Circuit City. I have never downloaded MP3’s off the Internet so I don’t need a 20 GIG hard drive . I download files from iTunes® so I would love something that was iTunes® compatible but that isn’t ...

Good inexpensive MP3/WMA player

by rogerlouie , Apr 28 '05
Pros: Inexpensive Basic player if you don't need a 20 GB player. Good performance.
Cons: Playback is either in sequential order, or random shuttle mode, or repeated 1 or all.
I bought this Memorex MMP8500 128 MB MP3/WMA player on sale at Target. It was the most inexpensive player they sold. I bought it since it accepts an external SD memory card, up to 512 MB, which I already had. The Memorex 256 MB player was higher ...

Memorex Doesn't Sound Too Good With This MP3 Player

by ace3502 , Oct 01 '07
Pros: Small, Light, Comfortable To Wear
Cons: Not Durable, Small Amount Of Memory, Poorly Made Headphones
I am a bit of a health nut. I go to the gym 5 days a week, most days twice a day, (no I'm not addicted I just do my cardio work out in the morning and then weight training in the afternoon). So I wanted an MP3 player that was small, portable, light, and ...

Wish I'd held out for a more user friendly mp3 player

by colz85 , Aug 10 '05
Pros: Light weight. FM tuner. Expandable memory.
Cons: Operation is not intuitive. Short battery life.
It was time to replace the cassette walkman that had served me well for lo these many years. I thought I'd make the leap into mp3 land. One thing though....I needed a player with an FM tuner. I'm the Operations Manager at our radio station, and I need ...

So-So player

by jrw14493 , Aug 11 '04
Pros: Small, sleek looking, requires 1 battery
Cons: cheappy quality, not the best player
I decided that carrying around a bulky CD player that skipped when I moved it was getting old. So I decided to look into buying a new mp3 player. Not only did I look at price, but I looked at features. I wanted a small, highly portable, mp3 player ...

Not for Power Users

by gqskrub , Jul 03 '04
Pros: It is easy to turn on.
Cons: Everything else: Earbuds hurt, FM tuner is useless, Mp3 mode is basic at best.
This player does what it says it does: it plays mp3s. It also includes basic functions such as shuffle and repeat. However, it lacks other useful functions like resume. The player always turns on in mp3 mode. So if you turn it off while listening to the ...

Trying to be as positive as possible

by sixthmichcav , Apr 14 '05
Pros: Sleek, portable, nice controls and external design
Cons: Software does not recognize the player, making it unusable.
I'll try to be as positive as possible about this little number, but eventually you'll get the idea that I don't recommend it. The BM was inexpensive at $89 on sale, certainly cheaper than most of the other MP3 players on the rack. Having had good ...

Cheap, good sound, arm band holder, GYM WORTHY!
by ctgblue ,Jan 27 '05
Pros: comes with armband holder, rugged
Cons: loses button now and again
Got this for my wife last year for christmas.
Loses a button now and then (we find them), but other than that it has been the best investment I made that Christmas!
My wife hits the gym 5 days a week, early morning.
She uses this to keep her concentration.
She is on her 3rd set of headphones and swears by this little thing.
Tough and holds enough music to be good for a week or two at a shot.

This Little Power House Rocks....Very Cool MP3
by theinfoguru ,Dec 25 '03
Pros: Light as Air. Very compact. Great sound clarity earbuds. EZ to set up
Cons: slightly difficult to set up the FM radio stations.
This was so simple to install the software, and load the songs. It treats the player like a removable disk so there are no driver hassles. This thing is so light it feels like it is floating. Only ONE battery to get this thing going for 10 hours.

I got mine for as a gift and can't quit listening to it. The ear buds provide excellent sound clarity and no distortion.

The buttons provide easy song navigation. I can store over 4 hours of music with the 128K memory.

Overall I Rate it 5 stars *****

Great Buy, and I know Mp3 players
by poop121 ,Dec 21 '04
Pros: Good sound, great palm-fit, and EXPANDABLE. Neat pictures in a convenient menu. Good battery life.
Cons: Includes bad headphones, isn't as "cool" looking as others. Can't really think of much else....
I have owned this Mp3 player for about a year now, and it still remains to be one of the best in the market. I am soon to get a 512mb sd card, which will add more than 8 cds of music(128 = aprox. 25 songs).
The FM tuner is a bonus, and is a mixed bag. Some stations I get have crisp, clear sound, while others aren't picked up so easily. I really don't use it that much, as I have all the songs I want to listen to on mp3 format.
As far as durability, IT IS GREAT. Many complain about "cheap" plastic and "it doesn't look too durable..." I have dropped it about 3 times(once quite hard), brung it to school about 3 months(that says ALOT), and left it in various extreme conditions(and I think I take good care of it...). It still remains exactly as how I bought it.

ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT USE THE HEADPHONES THEY GIVE YOU. THEY ARE VERY CHEAP AND HAVE BAD SOUND. Just go get a $10 set of Panasonic, Sony, or Philips earbuds.

Overall: Great buy

Excellent sound, excellent value
by junebug1701 ,Jan 08 '04
Pros: Easy set up and use, looks like removeable disc to the OS.
Cons: Earbuds too big, vinyl case too tight.
This is a fantastic MP3 player. It weighs almost nothing, no moving parts so it can't skip, backlit display, FM tuner with presets, expandable memory with SD card slot, ergonomically designed for one-handed operation, and runs for 10 hours on a single AAA battery! This is my first portable MP3 player so I can't really compare it to the Lyras, Rios, Ipods etc., but I am really impressed with this tiny gem. So much so that I created a Yahoo group for all Memorex MP3 players:

Great for my first MP3 player
by ufgatorsax ,Jun 26 '04
Pros: Sound quality, Portability and ease of use
Cons: Difficulty programing FM Stations and Big ear buds
This is my first MP3 player and I believe I stole this at the price I bought it for. I found it on sale for $59.00 in a Walmart while on vacation in North Carolina. I love the sound quality and the portability. I like it's ability to add more memory via a memory card. It interfaces well with my Windows XP, it acts like a portable hard-drive, just plug and download. I don't like the difficulty in programing the FM stations nor do like the big ear buds that come with it. Other than that I believe I have a fine value on my hands.

Well worth my $25
by hypothermia69 ,Dec 07 '07
Pros: FM tuner, 128MB of memory built in (upgradeable), light weight.
Cons: FM tuner will lose a station if you breath too hard.
I found this player (sealed) in the clearance bin at Bigg's here in Cincinnati. It was clearanced priced at $25... how could I pass it up? For all of the features it has - arm band, single AAA battery, FM tuner, upgradeable memory, how can you really complain for the price. As far as the software not recognizing it, with XP and Media Player, you don't need the software - XP recognized it as external storage as soon as it was plugged in. I have found it in the $40 range at Buy.com and every once in a while at Overstock... just waiting for the 60GB iPods to get into my price range.

works well for travel
by solareclipse1 ,Jul 17 '04
Pros: travels well, compatible with windows 98,me and xp
Cons: finding the memory upgrade
I like it. it's no ipod but its not 300 buck either. I travel 14 times a year and take it everywhere. It's compatible with a four of my computers and I really don't have a problem with the radio I can even get stations in the airport. Finding the memory upgrade on the other hand is turning into a problem.

For Amateurs! Not the music hungry!
by buehlerduo ,Apr 27 '05
Pros: Great simple starter mp3 player!
Cons: Simple mp3 player if you want any more!
Let's start off by saying this player is NOT WORTHY of experienced, high-tech, absurd-amounts-of-music-hungry people. However, this is a good starter mp3 player for anyone wanting something pretty easy. Great for fitness uses (a morning power walk and such). The ear buds seem fine to me...and I like how they are fabric coated (or something!). Comes with a protective case and armband too! Very easy to load the music. Love that it has a SD/MMC expansion slot so you can have more music if you wish! Cool blue screen. I like that you can listen to the radio too, just in case you get sick of the songs you haven't replaced yet! Auto programming radio presets feature is pretty sweet. Shuffle will cycle through all music, including what is on your expansion card.
