Pros: Quiet washer, cleans clothes well. Cons: loud drain and spin cycle. Does not look cool.
My girlfriend and I live in a 1BR in Manhattan. I was all set to buy the Kenmore Duet He3t front loading washer and matching dryer because it rated so highly in Consumer Reports. But the dimensions of the Kenmore were too big...by a lot. We wanted to ...

The machine is probably the best you can buy on the market. Everything is good about it except the price. However, it is made out of best materials and it's electronics are very good. The machine is compact, yet you can wash huge loads. It ...
Pros: Compact, efficient, long-wearing Cons: High initial cost compared to average
Quest for CleanWhen we moved across the country two years ago, we left the old washer and dryer behind. We finally bought a great house and needed a washer and dryer ASAP. My husband did a lot of research on the best kind to ...
Pros: Durability. Engineering. Capacity. Ease of Use. Cons: Price = $3200 plus per pair. Some things ARE worth their cost. These are!
We have owned Miele's in the US since 1991. Bought our first pair in San Diego back then. Loved them. Sold the house, and the Miele's became a bargaining chip so the buyer paid a little more and the seller threw in the Miele's. The second pair of ...

Pros: little water and soap, very good cleaning Cons: Intermittent spin speed problem make the drying time much, much longer!
Bought it six month ago, washing is good, little water, little soap. Main problem is about 35% of the time when the program is set for maximum spin speed, when the end of the cycle come, the speed stick on the medium-low instead of max.!
Technician came, tried it once, empty, it works.
Next time I used the machine, same problem, water is dripping from the clothes if you twist it, after the " Maximum " spin !!
I had to made few videos, so next time tech. replace the board. Same problem. Call back, talks and calls later they replace the machine, same problem.... I am there...
When I will have news, I'll update.
2005-04-08 3 months after the service call, the Tech came and check again, can't do nothing more. Now he change his point of view - It is NORMAL NOT TO SPINN 35% OF THE TIME !!! MIELE never want to take back their machine, lucky for me the store accept to exchange the machine, now I have a AEG W 1460 (1600$) and the dryer 37720 for a year. Both are working perfectly, 10 out of 10. Thank to JC Perreault and AEG
Pros: washes very well, well engineered, easy to use, has temperature control Cons: Price...
After we gave up on a new GE washer (that worked as designed, just didn't clean...), with a new baby coming, we bought the Miele at some good deal.
I can't tell much about reliability etc. as we only have it for a week, but this machine just works fine. As I would like a washing machine to work. It is smaller yet larger capacity, extremely simple interface, yet many options are available, and above all - it cleans so well...
So far we are very happy with that decision - though the machine is more expensive, it does work better, and is very well engineered. We hope to use it for many years ahead.
Our W1213 failed 7 months after purchase -- a power board was damaged apparently by a power surge in a storm. It takes a two-man repair team, since we have a washer-dryer stack configuration in an alcove where there's not much room to get leverage to lift the dryer off the washer to repair it.
Initial response was that it would take more than a week to get the second man down from New York, but when we explained that we'd be traveling before that and needed to do a lot of washing in preparation for the trip, Miele rerouted their local repairman to us that same day to at least diagnose the problem (diagnosis is done from the front and requires no heavy lifting). Then, within two days they had the New York man at our house to actually help with the repairs.
Both men were clearly well-trained: they were most courteous, diligent in dealing with a temporarily lost replacement power board, and careful to not track dirt into the house in the face of the severe rain storms encountered in the DC area in early May.
A stackable for the tight kitchen that works & looks right by rdebrigard ,Jan 15 '06
Pros: Washes extremely well, no vibration, good matching dryer, handsome in stainless, built-in safety, conveniences Cons: Expensive. Longer wash cycle (at normal), capacity best suited to couple or small family.
We just remodeled the kitchen of our apartment and wanted it to include a washer dryer. Our kitchen adviser recommended the Miele, saying she had one and it washes extremely well. but we resisted because of the price, and because the dryer is electric (our building has gas). Ultimately, we couldn't find another washer-dryer that would fit in the space, that would match the stainless steel look of the other appliances, and most important of all, that would satisfy the anti-spill rules of our building (the building requires a pan to collect any spill, connected to an automatic shut-off; the Miele has those features built-in). Having bought it, we discovered it is a great machine; it washes extremely well, especially if you use reasonably sized loads, and the dryer leaves the clothes nice and fluffy. We are sold on it.
Loud, bouncy, bumpy, shaking, noisy, pass on this one. by howboutmapples ,Mar 28 '06
Pros: Cleans well Cons: Very loud. Miele service was quick to share that our floor was the problem.
Unless you are putting this washer on a concrete slab - pass. The manual says that it is best if the washer is placed on a concrete slab or, if a wood floor, attache a 1 and 3/8 inch piece of plywood on top of the floor. I have done all this and this thing keeps on rocking and bouncing with every load. Very very loud and bouncy. Pass Pass Pass
Cleans well but disappointed by vanderdoelen ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Lots of useful settings and I use the sanitize cycle for cleaning my bedding regularly. Cons: This is the second time it has stopped working in 14 months!
We've had this washer for 14 months. It cleans beautifully. I have never had whites as clean as this. We bought the machine because I love to do laundry and my husband thought it would be nice to have the best. I love the way it handwashes and I actually use most of the settings.
The biggest disappointment has been when it won't work. Today is the second time this has happened. A few months ago it was only a loose light bulb. Today, I don't know what it is. Have checked the lint trap, etc. It's frustrating because I am ready with a load to go!
