Pros: Great picture with DVD and HD programming; lots of helpful online info; upgradeable Cons: Old analog signals look bad, some tweaks are complicated, possible burn in with 4:3 images
This review is about a very big TV. It's the kind of TV that, upon entering your home, people say things such as,
"OMG, it's a monster!"
"That's so big it's almost garish!"
"How much does that weigh?"
"I want one!"

Pros: Calibrated picture is outstanding, perfect for custom installation Cons: "Red Push", glare screen
This is a great TV which VERY few people have ever seen at its best. Why do I say that? Because for God only knows what reason, Mitsubishi has gone out of their way to prevent anyone from getting an accurate picture out of this thing. Pop in AVIA or...

Best of it's kind

Pros: Reliable, great picture Cons: no built-in HDTV tuner, annoying reflective screen, ugly box
I have owned this TV now for about 2 years without any problems. I traded it in for a new Panasonic 60" LCD. The Panasonic looked and worked great for 4 days...then Boom. It broke. I've heard similar stories about other LCD brands. It seems that the "lamp" system is an inherent design problem. I called Ken Crane's TV where I bought it and wanted my old trouble free Mitsubishi back. They complied without hesitation. Quite frankly, there wasn't that much difference in the picture quality. I just wanted something a little sleeker instead of the BIG BLACK BOX! Now that I have my Mitsubishi back, I'm keeping it - black box and all - till I hear that plasma and LCD TVs have reached a point where they are reliable.

This TV is great if you know what you are buying. If you plan on watching regular tv most of the time this is NOT the tv for you. If you watch DVD and wide screen format television then this tv simply can not be beat. I just want to say the analog picture is not terrible it is the wide screen layout that distorts the picture. Do not buy the hype from sales people that are saying HDTV is going to happen soon because it is not, but HDTV is the future plus Mitsubishi is the ONLY company that has an upgrade path for their HDTVs.

I simply love this tv. My only gripe is the color being too red. It's hard to get it perfect, but once you do it's amazing. The analog picture is a little distorted but so are all widescreen tvs. There is different picture settings to compensate and you get used to it pretty quick. It's hard to watch a smaller tv after you watch this.
