Pros: Smooth running and reliable... Cons: None so far...
Almost a year ago I built my first computer; it was my first build. I had gathered up all of the parts and one day when everything was in place I put it together. One of the components I bought for this new system was this new (at the time) Asus ...
Pros: Fast, smooth-running, and affordable AMD nVidia2 chipset board; decent Asus support Cons: Not for gamers, cannot be overclocked, no dual channel DDR.
This is the first AMD machine I've ever owned and I love it! (My prior machine was an Intel PIII). SPECS The processor is Socket A for AMD® Athlon™XP/Athlon™/Duron™ 600MHz ~ 3000+ and Thoroughbred/Barton core CPU ready. It has an NVIDIA® nFo ...
Pros: Excellent performance, stable, loaded with features. Cons: Nothing I can find.
The motherboard industry is fiercely competitive. High performance motherboards, such as the Asus A7N8X, are expensive to not only research and develop, but also to manufacture. The steps used to process them are very precise and tightly...
Pros: Feature-laden, stable at stock speeds Cons: Cannot hit 200 MHz FSB, expensive, not Soundstorm-certified, NB voltage-starved.
After hearing about the insane speeds the Throughbred B Athlon XPs are hitting, I decided to get one. Unfortunately, my Gigabyte GA-7VRXP motherboard was only able to hit a FSB of only a mere 140 MHz. My Tbred B 1700+ was stuck at 1750 Mhz (2100+), and...
Pros: fully featured, fast and furious Cons: None that I found
I build, repair and upgrade computer systems occasionally when friends or I need something done. My PC rarely has its covers on, but thats another matter.
Recently I had two to build, and research let me to the A7N8X. With the ASUS name...
Pros: Fast, Stable, AGP 3.0, Dual Channel DDR. Cons: Very little linux compatability.
This is a great board. The deluxe version (~ $140) boasts Serial ATA Raid, Dual Channel DDR400, dual LAN cards, 5.1 channel sound, Firewire, and one of the fastest 166Mhz FSB chipsets around. Asus has an excellent track record for stability and...
Pros: Downright awesome in pretty much every category Cons: Some features are ahead of their time
Well, the day finally came. The day when I decided that Verloc, my beloved Athlon based gaming box was getting a little long in the tooth. Morrowind stuttered, UT2K3 wheezed, and I fumed. I set out on a long trek through the muddy streets of internet...
Pros: A fast and reliable motherboard for the Athon XP! Cons: None
The Asus A7N8X Motherboard is the right step in performance for the AMD Athlon XP processors especially those with the 333 MHz bus. For performance it gives you support for DDR 400 memory in dual channels, an AGP slot for video cards of 8x and the 333...
Pros: Makes a good paper weight Cons: Won't post with my 2600+, posts only with 100 Mhz FSB with 2500+
I just got the A7N8X-X, and apparently the -x makes all the difference. I have had nothing but problems with this board. It will not even post with my AMD 2600+. I took it to a friends house and he had two 2500+. One of them did not work, and the other would post but only with a FSB of 100 Mhz... If you changed the FSB it would not post. Asus does not even list this product as I think they stopped supporting it. It sounds like the -VM and the -Deluxe work fine, but be wary of the -X.
Pros: Good bus speeds and future processor support. Cons: Audio/Lan drivers better from manufacturer rather than asus webpage.
Well, I bought this motherboard about three months ago. I am a fan of Asus motherboards and video cards. This one, being the third one that I have owned, is very stable. The dual channel memory buses make it great for gaming. 8x AGP , now a standard, is good for future video card buses. I use the integrated audio, however, the lan only works in windows, so I still use a PCI card for linux/unix use. The Audio has rich bass. This motherboard is definately a wise buy.
