Pros: Stylish, solidly built, clear sound, affordable, won't interfere with wireless Internet Cons: Controls take a little getting used to, slow call-display message deleting, keys beep loudly
Once my freelance business started to pick up, it became pretty clear to me that my old, crackly 900 Mhz cordless phone just wasnt going to cut it anymore. Nobody could hear me, I couldnt hear them, and when I tried to speak louder to ...

Pros: Nice feel Cons: Bad quality, no speakerphone, no ability to adjust dial tone volume through headset.
This 5.8 Ghz phone has a nice feel. I bought it so that I would not have wireless interference with my computers, but I've had 2 phones in 1 year fail with the same problem: the keys start sending static instead of a clear tone when pressed. This makes ...

Pros: Frequency, lots of features, price, good sound quality Cons: Battery compartment, inconvenient editing of saved entries, no phone directory
I needed another phone so I first got a VTech T2416 2.4 GHz phone and then this Motorola MA550 5.8 GHz phone. I have wireless network so my primary reason for trying the MA550 was because of its 5.8 GHz frequency. Both, however, are analog phones. I ...

I expected more from Motorola!
by bladesarge ,Mar 20 '07
Pros: Looks nice, well made, solid build. Cons: Very poor range, poor sound quality! Frequently does not ring on incoming calls!
I've always thought Motorola made top-notch equipment ... but that is NOT true with the MA550 cordless phone! Very disappointed with it's performance! Sound quality & range are very poor, can't even walk out to the mailbox with it, it dies! Most of the time is does not even ring when receiving an incoming call! NO MORE MOTOROLA phones for me!
I gave the MA550 away...then went & bought a Uniden EZI-996, it is a BIG improvement!

Motorola MA550 Poor Quality
by stepinion ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: Looks Good Cons: Poor Quality
Motorola MA550 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone
I bought the Motorola M550 & M560 in the summer of 2005 and within 5 months I was having problems. To their credit, Motorola replaced the faulty receiver handset that came with the answering machine set, (because it was not dialing accurately).
Within the next 6 months I was having the same problem.
Calling customer service proved useless because they rudely claimed the warranty on their new phone was only honored from the original purchase date of the first faulty phone????
So, that meant their replacement phones had no warranty.
After a letter to the CEO I was offered an apology and sent another n/c replacement but this time it was a 2.4 GHz Model E34. (a discontinued model)
I give up on Motorola !!!

Who makes a good cordless phone now?
by orc_maiden ,Aug 12 '05
Pros: none Cons: Range is horrible.
Bought if after trying a Panasonic KX-TG2500CF for two days - which was also disappointing. Returned the Motorola and the Panasonic. The MA550 sound breaks up as soon as I get to my side door. I live in a small place - the door is not far from the receiver. I can walk around the garden with my old Panasonic KX-TG2500CF.

Faulty transmission
by sdogaa ,Aug 15 '06
Pros: Nice look and feel...orange display is easy to read. Cons: Can't seem to dial the number "1"...practically unusable thus.
Save your money and get a different phone. I've had this phone for about a year....it worked fine for the first 3 or so months. Now it is practically unusable. When pressing the "1" button to make a long distance call, instead of a tone you get static, and the call almost never goes through...you have to try dialing the number a solid 5 or 6 times before getting it to register the tone. same with using the redial function...it will usual dial the first 5 or so numbers and the crap out.
I bought this phone figuring a Motorola would be reliable. Apparently not.
