Nikon Coolpix 4100: A good picture says it all!

by damanger , Oct 20 '04
Pros: Light, Compact, 2 year Warranty, Great Pictures, many different picture modes, Ease of use!
Cons: Blurred pictures without flash, auto-focus for movie mode makes annoying clicking sound!
I was in great need for a new camera. With an upcoming wedding and a honeymoon to the Caribbean, I need a camera that would take great pictures and be light, and easy to carry when I was on my travels. I looked at many models, like the Sony DSC-P73 ...

Does Coolpix get you hot?

by Angellcatt , Jun 07 '05
Pros: Small, lightweight, affordable, beautiful quality photos
Cons: DELAY!!!, goes through batteries quickly
The Nikon Coolpix 4100 is the first digital camera that I have owned. Before this I was loyal only to my Nikon FE. Always trusting of the Nikon brand (sometimes you really do get what you pay for) when I decided to take the digital plunge I knew I ...

My first digital experience is a good one.

by aidanone , Sep 30 '04
Pros: More camera than I know what to do with. Cool macro mode. Great pics.
Cons: Battery life, limited movie mode, risk of blurred pictures if not using the flash.
I'm going to start off by saying that this is a somewhat biased review as this is the first digital camera that I've owned. So far I'm really happy with my purchase. I'm not going to bother typing out specifications that you can probably just pull ...

Good digital camera for the price

by lynnepark , Mar 20 '07
Pros: Compact, easy to use
Cons: shutter lag
I have owned this digital camera for about two and a half years now. I originally bought it to use when me nephew was born and the pictures came out great. It is very handy because it is small and compact and you can fit it just about anywhere. I ...

easy to use, great value for the money.
by bastian357 ,Jun 03 '05
Pros: Great pictures, easy to use, compact and lightweight
Cons: short battery life in flash mode, blurred pics in non flash mode
I received this camera as a Christmas present, and was using it within five minutes of opening it. It is very easy to use, very compact and lightweight, and produces stunning pictures. I have also had the blurring problem when using without the flash, but not always. I took it on a Mexican cruise in March, 2005, and the results have been amazing. I have also found this camera to be extremely compatible with my photo printer. I also feel that the batteries do not last very long, especially when using it in the flash mode, but plan on buying rechargeable ones and keeping an extra set handy.
Overall, the pictures are amazing, and edit very easily. This would be a great choice for a beginner, or someone who simply wants to take lots of great pictures.

a wonderful camera
by kellibelli ,Nov 28 '04
Pros: Easy use, bold colors, great capabilities.
Cons: Software has to be upgraded upon purchase in order to burn photos to CDs.
After shopping around...i decided on this model based on the positive feedback i'd recieved from 2 other coolpix owners. This camera is extremely user friendly, takes beautiful shots that print very nicely. There are several settings on this camera that allow you to capture otherwise hard to photograph subjects. (i live in Alaska and was able to get a nice shot of the Northern lights a few nights back. Another feature of this camera is that you can crop your pix really easily. Other friends that own fujis and canons have said seperately that they would buy this one over theirs..hands down.

A must buy
by schrimes ,Mar 09 '05
Pros: Excellent price, great shots, nice features, and is equipped with a nice lens.
Cons: Pictures blurr in low lighting if no flash is used. Certain batteries drain quickly.
Initially, I did experience blurred pictures (without the flash). However, after learning to hold down the shutter release button halfway, I was able to steady the camera and let the camera focus to capture a great picture. Blurring is not something that consistently gets in the way and should not be a major deciding factor to purchase the camera. It has a great lens with 3x optical zoom and 4 mega pixels (MP) still allows for adequate cropping of pictures. In addition, expanding the size of the photo still maintains quality, therefore making this a great camera if not wanting to spend the 400 dollars to acquire a 5 or 6 mega pixel camera. Lastly, the software gives great instructions for novices using a digital camera and simplifies the many functions that can confuse many consumers. Overall, this is a great camera in its price range and is manufactured by Nikon, which is a reputable company.

Not satisfied
by dktcluff ,Jun 09 '06
Pros: Small. Easy to use. Good LCD. Menus are intuitive. Outdoor pictures are great.
Cons: Horrible indoor pictures. Terrible battery life. Flash takes a long time to recover.
While the size and ease of use is great, it is overshadowed be the short battery life and poor indoor picture quality. Most indoor pictures come out blurry. The flash also takes a very long time to recharge. I've tried multiple settings and could not find any that would resolve the problems with taking indoor pictures. I also found the Nikon software that comes with the camera to be buggy and useless.

by varechtchouk ,Mar 26 '06
Pros: light, easy to use, different settings.
Cons: hard to get rid of red eye.
This camera is really light and easy to use. It looks amazing, and it is simple to carry anywhere. The camera takes great pictures as well, except sometimes it is hard to get rid of red eyes.
