Pros: image quality, feature set, great size/feel, ok build quality, fast performance Cons: crappy bundled software, shame Nikon for not including the remote & CF card in kit
I've had mine for about 3 months. I really like it, but frankly if it wasn't for the recent price drops and the fact that I had price protection (from London Drugs) I would not be as thrilled with this unit as I am. The Canadian dollar has been strong ...

Pros: Solid feel to camera, excellent response time, great images Cons: No PC connector plug-in...an adapter must be used on hotshoe
Film processing is a thing of the past! Digital is the way to go...and the Nikon D70 is the camera that fits the bill. A compact digital SLR that can easily handle any photographic task. The image quality is astounding. I've tried a bunch of digitals and ...

Pros: Stunning non-digital like photos when developed. Instant on, instant focus. Reasonable price. Cons: Heavy.
I love photography, but my artistic talent went away with the purchase of a digital point & shoot camera in 2001. It was easier to just take a whole bunch of digital pictures without worrying about the outcome because they were free until developed. ...

Pros: Good solid build feel, exceptional autofocus, good for amateur or semi-pro, backward compatible Cons: Capture software extra cost, hand grip feels tight to the lens, default seems underexposed
Got my D70 24th March from B H in New York on first day of release. D70 with the Nikon 18-70 lens and 1Gb Sandisk Extreme CF card. Total (ex tax)$1599 also paid an extra $50 for the Mack 5 year extended warranty. The camera is already sold out and on 4 ...

Pros: Speed! No shutter delay, no power-up delay. Excellent images. Cons: Some annoying design flaws.
[D70 reviewed, but comments also apply to D70s.] Good enough to retire my Nikon 35mm film camera for the benefits of digital! Its key feature is speed: no shutter delay, no power-up delay, and the camera can be left on at all times (sleep mode) ...

Pros: Intuitive controls, no fumbling for settings. Can use manual lenses. Negligible shutter lag. Cons: No wireless remote control included. Viewfinder takes some getting used to.
I have been a Nikon user for over 20 years, and owned at least six different bodies and lots of lenses. My all time favorite is the FM2N. Why Nikon? It's the lenses! Nikon seems to understand this is the main selling point of their system. SO ...

Pros: Behaves like a "traditional" 35mm camera Cons: Non yet
I have been into digital photography for a while now. I started with a 2MP Sony and have moved up to a 5MP F707. While I love the gadget factor, my wife has stayed in the film camp all this time. She really disliked my Sony F707 because it behaves more ...

Pros: Excellent camera , good quick shooting, good manual, as is auto modes Cons: Bad transfer software, needs work before being released.
I have over 500 images with the D70, so I can speak with a little expierence about the camera. It powers up almost instantly, the autofocus is very fast. Many selections for camera operation or just set it to "Auto" and let it do everything, could be a ...

Pros: Fast
Minimal noise, even in low light.
Solid construction
Intuitive controls Cons: No Nikon Capture software, although the enclosed software will convert RAW files to JPEGs.
I've had the D70 for a couple of weeks now and have put it to the test next to my beloved, albeit outdated, N8008. It's truly an amazing little contraption, especially considering its relatively modest price tag. I read gushing reviews of this camera ...

Pros: Solid built, Fast focus / shutter speed, Economical Cons: software issues out of the box, wait time for firmware upgrade, file naming issues
I called ahead to a local Wolf/Ritz Chain store to check availability, they had three units in stock, (1 kit and 2 body only) despite many notices on-line that it was backordered for 2 - 4 weeks, and requested that 1 body only be put under the counter ...

Pros: Quality and price. Response time is excellent. Flexibility is amazing. Cons: No vertical shutter or external flash terminal (need dedicated synch cables). Non-standard RAW format (NEF).
I used to be an avid Nikon 35mm SLR user. With 3 bodies and 9 lenses I was loaded. A few years ago I switched to digital for the simple reason that it saved money and a lot of time not having to buy film and have it processed. Started with a 1.3mp ...

Pros: High shutter speed, max flash sync.
Ease of use.
Color Matrix metering.
Zero startup time. Cons: Somewhat small viewfinder.
Slightly flimsy CompactFlash door.
Makes the more-expensive D100 pretty much pointless.
Let's get this out of the way. The D70 is the best DSLR available for under $3000. Figure in price and size, and it's not to hard to make a case for the D70 being one of the best all-around DSLRs on the market. I don't want to sound like a Nikon ...

Pros: Relatively inexpensive. Uses Nikon lenses. Up to date technology. A technological marvel. Cons: I would like a fool proof method of inserting the memory card.
I've owned Nikon cameras since I bought a Nikon F in 1959 when I was stationed in Japan. I've never had a failure of lens or camera in 45 years. That is until I bought the D70. I bent a pin connecting to the memory card because I was in a hurry and was ...

Pros: Cost, feel, resolution, SPEED!, and general feeling of satisfaction. Cons: Only works with SB-X00 Nikon flashes. Costs more than I currently have.
I love it. I can't stop talking about it. I sit at work and wonder when I can go home and use it again. I count the days until my next appointment to use it. I've been a fan of digital photography since I worked at Ritz Camera in 1998-1999 and saw ...

Pros: NO DIGITAL DELAY WHATEVER. VERY EASY MENUS TO WORK WITH. Cons: Needs better explanations of the various programmed settings: a short training manual would have helped.
This is the sixth digital camera I've owned and it is by and far the best. There is no digital delay at all. You see it, you take it. The turn on delay is about one second. After that, you can take pictures at up to 3/second. I bought a high speed ...
