Pros: Quick charge, long-lasting double-battery, several power led's, floating heads, great shave. Cons: Lightweight travel pouch.
I have previously had 2 other Norelco rotary razors which I was very happy with, and therefore I stuck with Norelco in my latest purchase... With both of my previous Norelco rechargeable razors, I was totally happy - they gave a great shave, and held ...

Great Shave!
by speedwings ,May 16 '05
Pros: Quick charging, lightweight, close shave, quiet Cons: Stiff to operate pop-up trimmer
I really was impressed with this shaver. I had been using a 6 year old Remington cordless that I thought did a pretty good job, but it doesn't compare to the Norelco. Not only does the Norelco shave noticeably closer, but it took 1/3 of the time to do the job because I didn't have to go over the same spot 5 times like with my old Remington.
On review noted that the pop up trimmer was a pain. On my particular shaver, the pop up trimmer is a little stiff to actuate. It's not a problem for me and I think it will loosen up with use.

Pros: great shave, convenient, quick recharge, nice travel pouch. Cons: None really.
I bought this Norelco 6863XL shaver first week of January '05 and it has proven to be an excellent product. It took about 4-5 weeks for my skin to adjust to electric shaving but now it works like a charm. It does a great job on all facial areas, particularly under the chin. This is not the most expensive Norelco but Reflex Plus is very adequate for me, and I have a fairly heavy beard. I bought the Norelco on a whim since it was on sale for $65, and after 40 years of blade shaving I was tired of losing blood!! No need either now for aftershave--I don't use electric preshave either. I just brush the shaver out every few days, and I guess I will have to replace the cutters within the year. This is a great product, and it recharges from dead to full charged in 50 minutes--I have never used it plugged in. The trimmer even works! I am very satisfied.

Excellent experience.
by richbuga ,Mar 07 '04
Pros: Excellent shave and comfort. Very quick charge. Cons: Strange color and the trimmer is hard to open.
I replaced my tired 10 year old Norelco 835 with a Remington 9170 and it was a huge mistake. I returned it after 2 painful and non-productive shaves and bought this razor and was hooked during the first usage. The pivoting heads comfortably and snugly fit the contours of my face and I got an excellent shave that will only get better as the blades wear in over the next few weeks. It also went from a dead battery to a full charge in 4 hours!
My only minor complains would be that the metallic, sort of sky blue, color is a bit strange (to me anyway) and it seemed to take the hand of god to get the trimmer to open up which I guess is better than the above mentioned Remington where the trimmer would pop open when my fingers brushed against it. Also, the plastic does feel a bit cheap compared to my old one but the shape is very ergonomic.
All in all, I am very impressed and look forward to another 10 years from this Norelco.

Not Close Enough!
by vannchan ,Jun 04 '05
Pros: comfortable, quiet Cons: can not remove stubble close enough
I used the Norelco 6863 XL for at least a month. It was comfortable to use. But it did not shave as close as I was used to with my older shaver. This would not be bad to use as a backup or on camping trips when it would not matter about closeness.

Whew, I had a close shave!
by freddy39 ,Dec 27 '04
Pros: Really close shave. Very fast shave. Quiet, comfortable and easy on my face. Cons: Would be nice if it included a lubricant for the once a month cutter cleaning.
After using two Braun electric rechargeable shavers, I decided to try the Norelco 6863XL. I think the norelco gives the closest shave I ever had even the first two times I used it(no break-in period was needed).Another reviewer said the trimmer was hard to operate. Mine works perfectly and is better than the Braun trimmer. Other noticeable improvements: The Norelco easily cuts the longer finer hairs on my neck! It is very quiet, and because it is so efficient I get a very quick shave. Comfortable to hold
and shaves closer than a razor blade. I'm going to take good care of it so it lasts a long, long time. I don't see how you could get a better razor even if you spent more than the $60. I paid. A great precision tool from Norelco.

An outstanding electric shaver
by paulintx ,Nov 24 '05
Pros: Close quiet shave, charging time Cons: Storage pouch, electronic on/off switch
This shaver is in the Reflex Plus line and is the top shaver in that line in terms of features. The main reason I favored this shaver over the other Reflux Plus shavers is because you get 45 minutes on a charge instead of 30 like the others. This is due to its having 2 rechargeable batteries inside instead of just one. Also two batteries should last longer before they die than one. Unfortunately it has the electronic on/off switch which I don't care for instead of the plain old slide switch. I have on occasion accidently turned it off while shaving.
I had previously had two other Norelco rotary shavers but this one is the best yet in terms of giving a close, quick shave. I am totally satisfied.
About the only negatives I can think of besides the switch is the color which I can live with and the storage pouch. The pouch is really too small to easily contain both the shaver and its cord without splitting the zipper open. Also it has a permanent wrinkled look from having been folded up and tied inside the blister pack it came in.
