Pros: Inexpensive, traditional bourbon whiskey. Cons: Not to be consumed when the thermometer is sitting at 80 plus degrees!
Yesterday, while on a quest to try something besides my old stand by Jack Daniels, I was pouring over the whiskey and bourbon section at the local liquor store. Since money or lack there of, was the deciding factor of the day, I decided on trying a...
Pros: has an old classy look to it. It seems high class by appearance Cons: This swill was surely made in a witch's cauldron, Some hell potion to torture us
OK, I am not much of a whisky/bourbon drinker, so my opinion may not hold much weight here, but the other day some of my friends talked me into pouring this stuff into my body at a nudie bar and I will never quite forget this experience as long...
Pros: The original sour mash bourbon whiskey ... need I say more? Cons: Brings down upon itself the disdain of $40-a-bottle dilettantes.
Pay no attention to the naysayers, ladies and gentlemen: Old Crow is (pardon me here, Coca-Cola) the real thing.To be more specific, Old Crow is the first, original sour mash bourbon whiskey, named for the inventor of the sour mash technique, Dr. ...
Pros: Smooth and great tasting bourbon;
An historical recipe;
Very low price;
Easy to find Cons: Lacks bouquet and complexity of a top-shelf bourbon;
Chinchy bottle and label
Inventing the sour mash process, Dr. James Crow set a standard that revolutionized the whole bourbon-making process. All straight bourbons and Tennessee whiskeys now follow his process. This bourbon, however, generally sits on the bottom shelf, next ...
Pros: Cheap Cons: Sharp, alcoholic taste.
Bottom of the well, hard to consume even when mixed with 7up.
Not much to say about this bourbon. It is very inexpensive; I think I paid under $8 for a fifth. Both myself and my grandmother found this bourbon to be foul. Even when mixed with seven-up, the strong, overly alcoholic taste made us cringe. My...
Pros: Cheap, Great tasting, what else could you want? (oh yeah, Dr. Pepper) Cons: Doesn't come in a two pack with a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper
If you like the taste of bourbon, please go try some Old Crow! It's fairly inexpensive, and really tastes great. Now personally, I'm not much of a straight bourbon drinker, although I can, and enjoy Old Crow that way as well.
Old Crow. Venerable, inexpensive, and a mephitic horror undisputably dreamed up by the Elder Gods to punish mankind for some unknown but surely heinous transgression. A waxy flavour over a sharp punch of alcohol, with spicy notes providing a cruel...
Pros: Kicks you in the right places when you're down Cons: Something bad happened to put you in the mind frame to drink this stuff
Ah, the Crow.
In my long-standing love affair with alcohol many have come and gone, but even when my old friends Jack, Jim, and Pepe let me down, Old Crow always offers up the same old warm, welcome embrace of oblivion. How to sum up, how...
Pros: Cheap. Effective. Reliable. Historical. Cons: Rough for many, and it's far from "sophisticated".
It is no lie- Old Crow is not a drink. Old Crow is a poison. However unsophisticated this sour mash bourbon may be, it's truly a staple to good times with my friends and me. We like to all share a bottle and have large meals, conversation, and cigars. ...
Pros: This bird has flown me home safely a many of night. Cons: This bird has been responsible for injuries due to lack of motor skills.
I love old crow. I have to say, i've always been a bourbon drink, and for the price this is the best. I swear to sweet jesus that this whiskey has some type of hallucinogen in it. Whenever i am all crowed up i began to see things and think that i can...
Pros: Taste great and cost a lot less than its counterparts. Cons: Under rated in my book.It should sit with Beam and Makers on the shelves.
Has that great complexity of oak,caramel,and vanilla
flavors that I look for in Bourbons without a lot of burn.
Mixes great with Coke products but not so good with Pepsi.
Pros: Very inexpensive, but has good flavor, Historically significant. Cons: Inexpensive, so you can't brag about it.
Old Crow is THE bourbon that made bourbon famous. Dr. Crow in the 1830's decided to ship his spirit in charred oak barrels, and people began to ask for it by name. Once an independent bourbon, it is now owned by Jim Beam Brands. Beam kept the Old Crow barrel house, where the real taste of bourbon develops, not the distillery though. It certainly doesn't taste like Jim Beam White Label. It has sort of an old timey styling, and a good classic bourbon taste. It is very flavorful and the alcoholic burn is not as pronounced as something like Ten High. If Beam hadn't bought Old Crow, I bet Beam would be in trouble now and Old Crow would be a medium shelf bourbon. Beam may market it as a bottom shelf, but the old barrel house still makes it taste something like the Crow of Old, or so I would imagine.
Pros: smooth with a nice whiskey taste Cons: none that I can think of
good stuff. Definitely better than Maker's Mark, who must give the Food Network a lot of money to get the mentions they do. Definitely not just a "bottom shelf" alcohol.
