  • wanna make a face like Jim Carrey? Drink some of this crap.

    Jan 31, 2002 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: has an old classy look to it. It seems high class by appearance
Cons: This swill was surely made in a witch's cauldron, Some hell potion to torture us

Summary: OK, I am not much of a whisky/bourbon drinker, so my opinion may not hold much weight here, but the other day some of my friends talked me into pouring this stuff into my body at a nudie bar and I will never quite forget this experience as long ... read more

  • Old Crow Reserve 4 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey

    Mar 5, 2012 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good value for the money spent. Good for cocktails but COULD be drunk neat.
Cons: Not a contemplative whiskey but frankly better than regular Old Crow by far.

Summary: Background:  In my indiscrete youth I was more or less a bottom shelf or nothing drinker. At one unfortunate moment I purchased a large bottle of Old Crow to get me through an undergraduate Spring Break night in Key West. I am not sure which ... read more

  • Hey! Don't drink that! There could be poison in it!

    Feb 5, 2012 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Are you kidding me? Fine! It's cheap. Move along.
    Cons: Everything. Deal with it.

Summary:      I'll try to make this short and sweet because Old Crow isn't really worth the keystrokes. It has been said that eating crow is a humbling experience. Well drinking Crow,I'm afraid, is no less humbling. Paul F. Tompkins perhaps said it ... read more

Pros: Old Crow is the best value in bourbon out there. Money well spent.
Cons: Old Crow is such a value, you will definitely drink too much!!!  Watch out!!!

Summary:      Hey, if you are looking for prestige, then go ahead and buy Maker's Mark. I used to drive a Jaguar but you know what?  It was always breaking down and cost a fortune to fix.  So, I sold the Jaguar and got a Chevy ... read more

  • The Original

    Aug 27, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: The original sour mash bourbon whiskey ... need I say more?
Cons: Brings down upon itself the disdain of $40-a-bottle dilettantes.

Summary: Pay no attention to the naysayers, ladies and gentlemen: Old Crow is (pardon me here, Coca-Cola) the real thing. To be more specific, Old Crow is the first, original sour mash bourbon whiskey, named for the inventor of the sour mash technique, Dr. ... read more

  • Old Crow is THE Sour Mash Bourbon

    May 19, 2008 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: Cheap. Effective. Reliable. Historical.
Cons: Rough for many, and it's far from "sophisticated".

Summary: It is no lie- Old Crow is not a drink. Old Crow is a poison. However unsophisticated this sour mash bourbon may be, it's truly a staple to good times with my friends and me. We like to all share a bottle and have large meals, conversation, and cigars. ... read more

  • The BEST bourbon for the price

    Dec 26, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Smooth and great tasting bourbon; An historical recipe; Very low price; Easy to find
Cons: Lacks bouquet and complexity of a top-shelf bourbon; Chinchy bottle and label

Summary: Inventing the sour mash process, Dr. James Crow set a standard that revolutionized the whole bourbon-making process. All straight bourbons and Tennessee whiskeys now follow his process. This bourbon, however, generally sits on the bottom shelf, next ... read more

  • Spend the extra bucks for something drinkable.

    Feb 19, 2003 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Cheap
Cons: Sharp, alcoholic taste. Bottom of the well, hard to consume even when mixed with 7up.

Summary: Not much to say about this bourbon. It is very inexpensive; I think I paid under $8 for a fifth. Both myself and my grandmother found this bourbon to be foul. Even when mixed with seven-up, the strong, overly alcoholic taste made us cringe. My ... read more

Pros: This bird has flown me home safely a many of night.
Cons: This bird has been responsible for injuries due to lack of motor skills.

Summary: I love old crow. I have to say, i've always been a bourbon drink, and for the price this is the best. I swear to sweet jesus that this whiskey has some type of hallucinogen in it. Whenever i am all crowed up i began to see things and think that i can ... read more

  • It'll do

    Feb 18, 2002 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Very inexpensive, great for mixing.
    Cons: Too fruity

Summary: My Grandpa used to drink this, so one day I had to give it a try. I still buy a bottle of this stuff now and then. It's very cheap. Old Crow starts off somewhat weak, no blast of alcohol or anything, though it's proof is the same as most ... read more

  • She Left Me and All I Got Was This Bottle of Crow

    Dec 2, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Kicks you in the right places when you're down
Cons: Something bad happened to put you in the mind frame to drink this stuff

Summary: Ah, the Crow. In my long-standing love affair with alcohol many have come and gone, but even when my old friends Jack, Jim, and Pepe let me down, Old Crow always offers up the same old warm, welcome embrace of oblivion. How to sum up, how ... read more

  • Use it as a marinade, but don't drink it...

    Nov 17, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Cheap
    Cons: Undrinkable

Summary: Old Crow. Venerable, inexpensive, and a mephitic horror undisputably dreamed up by the Elder Gods to punish mankind for some unknown but surely heinous transgression. A waxy flavour over a sharp punch of alcohol, with spicy notes providing a cruel ... read more

Pros: Cheap, Great tasting, what else could you want? (oh yeah, Dr. Pepper)
Cons: Doesn't come in a two pack with a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper

Summary: If you like the taste of bourbon, please go try some Old Crow! It's fairly inexpensive, and really tastes great. Now personally, I'm not much of a straight bourbon drinker, although I can, and enjoy Old Crow that way as well. It has an ... read more

  • Cheap bourbon at its best.

    Oct 31, 2009 by

Pros: What cheap whiskey is supposed to be.
Cons: Profits are going to the Beam distillery.

Summary: I am very, very surprised that the Beam disterillery has not found a way to ruin this old timer. At 9 dollars a litre this is a drinking man's whiskey - and it has a great, plain and clean taste to go along with the buzz. It's sort of like a young floozy ... read more

Pros: Beats mouthwash like Benchmark and that sewage imbibed up north of the US border.
Cons: Not a whiskey for impressing snobby friends. But is that really a bad thing?

Summary: Wild Turkey and George Dickel and the like are very tough to beat - but they are too expensive for the frequent drinker. When you don't want to shell out money but still want to enjoy what you are drinking - straight up, no ice, then ... read more

Pros: Good taste, great price, labeling is terrific!
Cons: Hard to find in glass bottle.

Summary: I saw Old Crow bourbon while in Florida but refused to buy anything in a plastic bottle. I finally found it at a retailer (in North Carolina) in a glass bottle and had to try it. I was intrigued by the variety of reviews at epionions. My two cents:  ... read more

Pros: Smooth, economical, nostalgic, rings yer bell
Cons: You can't admit to liking it because it's from the bottom shelf?

Summary: If you're looking for a smooth sippin whiskey, this is it. Smoother than many middle-of-the-shelf blends. Can't compete with top shelf on bouquet and caramelization, but carries good color and good taste. ... read more
