Pros: Olympus C-7000 is a fun camera. Takes great images with lots of detail. Cons: Battery needs charging often. The lens is extended while reviewing photos taken.
My secret I'm choosing today to come out of the closet. Carrying a lot of baggage. Actually, a heavy box, around 36" wide, 24" deep and 18" high. The height is a relative measurement since the lid won't actually close. The lid won't close ...
Pros: Takes good photos, durable, easy to use, light weight Cons: Get stranded without a spare battery and you could be up the creek!
I got by just fine for a long while with my first digital camera, the Camedia D-510. It was a basic, easy to use camera; good enough that I still keep it around as a spare. But this past Christmas brought me an upgrade and a half: the Olympus Camedia ...
I did a lot of research on digital cameras, when I found out that Olympus was coming out with a new one - I waited until it was available. I'm very happy that I did. The camera itself is very easy to operate, and given that I'm not a digicam genius, ...
Pros: Image quality;5X optical zoom;ease of use Cons: Autofocus slow in low light;owner's manual comes only on CD-ROM;cost
I recently purchased an Olympus C-7000 Zoom Digital Camera to replace my 35mm point-and-shoot Pentax IQ 140 Zoom (God rest its soul). In my research, I also considered seven other "contenders" including the Olympus C-770 UZ, the Nikon Coolpix 4800, the ...
Pros: Great indoor flash! Take pro pics with all features, or point and shoot. Cons: People that don't give it credit for lack of experience.
I have found this camera to be a learning experience to understanding the digital camera language. It has made going to the pro level easy. The reviews about poor flash indoors are inaccurate. It has a high quality flash that can be controlled finely. ...
Once you figure it out its awesome! by pixiekitten ,Mar 31 '06
Pros: great pictures, superb quality, powerful compact camera, tons of options Cons: requires patience for figuring out settings, battery life
I love this camera, we waited to jump on the digital bandwagon, when we finally did we opted for this camera based off of info given to us by some techies we know. I'm glad we took their advice and found the C-700 which at the time had everything we were to keep our eye out for. We bought it last July. I must say that as an amateur I did find it pretty complicated, even after reading the booklet. I was able to figure it out... after a series of blurred photos inside and pictures that seemed double exposed I figured it out...and we are sooo pleased.
This camera takes such detailed pictures, you can change the size of the files.
We ended up buying a larger card to hold the videos we wanted to take and it works great for that too.
Overall this camera is very impressive. I would recommend it to those that have the patience to figure it out, as its really not a point and shoot, at least until you find the right settings.
Stands up to College Photo Class by marohrer ,Oct 31 '05
Pros: Outstanding photos, small, lightweight, large 2" LCD. Cons: Short battery life, no rapid-succession shooting.
I waited until high megapixel cameras were semi-affordable and then bought this camera 2/12/05. Am I glad I waited! The picture quality is outstanding--easily as good as my old Canon SLR and sharper than my old 35mm Pentax. Printed 8x10's aren't the least bit grainy. The large, 2" LCD screen is easy on the eyes. I am currently using it in a beginning college photo class. I can switch from color to B/W to sepia in just a couple of seconds. It has accomplished all the tasks done by the SLR cameras, although depth of field F2.8 to F8 created some challenges not normally encountered in everyday photos. Also, you can't take photos in rapid succession (due to digital processing time, but not much longer than advancing the film on 35 mm cameras) and battery life isn't the best (always carry a spare). It is small and lightweight, allowing you to take it anywhere--you never know when you might need to make a quick movie!
Have to agree with those who have panned the indoor/ flash performance.I tried taking pictures of our Christmas tree last week but couldn't get a single one to come into focus. I've been a serious amateur for a about 40 years but I gave up after about 20 shots. Worse yet, the shots were taken with wide angle perspective. I even tried a small tripod. It helped a bit but the pictures were still blurred.
Pros: Size, zoom, battery life Cons: Very poor performance with flash indoors.
I have used an Olympus D-150 zoom for about three years and loved it. Since it is only 1.3 megapixel I decided to upgrade.
I used my brother's C-740 and loved the zoom so I bought the C-7000 because of the zoom and compact size. I have had the camera about three months and am very disappointed. The flash pictures indoors tend to be blurred. I like Olympus but wish I had bought the C-770 instead. The C-7000 will probably spend a lot of time on the shelf while I continue to use my D-150. I'll be more careful when I make my next purchase!
Pros: 7 megapixels. Fast response time. Cons: One third of indoor flash photos out of focus.
I bought the Olympus C-7000 in November 2004. I take a lot of indoor flash photos of my grandchildren. I was shocked to find that 35% of my photos were out of focus! I did not have any trouble with outdoor photos, but only with the indoor flash photos. Apparently this camera does not focus well in the limited light indoors. After about three weeks of frustration, I returned the camera and got my money back. (I have three years of digital photography experience with my previous Canon digital camera and never had any problem with out of focus photos. I did read the entire Olympus manual and tried all the various focus modes, but all gave about the same percentage of photos being out of focus.)
Lots of Mega-pixels and 5x zoom, but if you have it zoomed out all the way, you cannot take a steady picture, It blurs. Small is size, which is good. But I was really going for the zoom factor and it seems i cannot really take advantage of it
