Pros: 10X zoom, 4 megapixels, full manual mode, compact size Cons: battery life, AF speed
The new Camedia C765 is a slightly stripped down version of Olympus flagship C770 (the two cameras replace the C740 and C750 respectively). The C765 builds on the success of its predecessors by providing users with useful features, SLR like ...

Pros: good pictures, faster, zoom Cons: controls and menus, proprietary battery, size, low light
I bought the camera for the following reasons: 10x optical zoom, updated faster processor, medium-size, rechargeable battery, built-in scene modes, programmable features and manual controls I could grow into. After owning the camera for a couple ...
Pros: Excellent quality pictures. Many options and presets to use.
10X zoom is excellent. Nice size. Cons: Indoor pictures need extra lighting unless you're taking close-ups.
I bought this camera for my wife. She wasn't too sure about it for the first few days. After we read about some of the different settings, she started to like it more & more. The picture quality (with good lighting) is simply amazing. We found that when ...
Pros: The 10x zoom, pop up flash, auto mode for point and shoot. Cons: Some of my action photos were blurry.
I have wanted a digital camera for a while, but have been hesitant to switch from 35mm film camera (my Olympus Super Zoom 170)to a fully digital camera. I like to take photos of everything and anything related to travel, sports, my family, friends, etc. ...
Pros: Great prints if you're willing to persevere through the illogical menu system. Cons: Hard to operate at first; well-dodgy menu; useless vid & sound; shutter lag.
Update: June 07... This is still my favourite camera; the 4MP is not a limitation. The large lens more than makes up for it. I wish Olympus did a similar model without the (bulky) zoom but with a bit of wide. You can only really use the zoom ...
Pros: Lense is superb for composing your shots quickly - near pro pic quality! Cons: Battery life is not great - get a spare one ASAP..!
Considering the price of this camera is so much less than some rivals with similar specs, I was very impressed with the picture quality and ease of use. Starting off in full auto, the most remarkable feaure is the zoom lens, which seems to be able to ...
Pros: 10X optical zoom, lots of manual controls and settings, good flash.
Cons: Battery life, Trouble with reds, Manual focus windown is too small.
This is the camera I enjoy the most and get the greatest use out of. The Auto Focus works great, the macro and super macro funcions are outstading. There are many adjustments that the user can make for sharpness, color saturation, etc. The 10X zoom is really a plus.
Complaints:
This camera has a hard time with macro reds and yellows. Sometimes the colors look washed out. Other than that the Macro functions are far superior
Ideal for beginners with great quality, small size & ultrazoom by kanishk ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: Great value for money Cons: None
This is my second digital camera, first one was Olympus C-750 and after i lost it, I was determined to buy its next version C-765. This camera is simple awesome. It has all the things anyone would want in a camera: Optical Zoom, Small Compact Size, Great quality pictures & movies with sound, lots of modes & easily customizable, ease of menu and fast pictures.
Olympus has decreased the size mainly by changing from standard 4 AA batteries to small Li battery. They have removed the hot-shoe , which usually slips & fall down. Turbo PicPro helps to take fast pictures like in football games. (That was the first photo session of my camera)
Great features for the price by gregbees02 ,Jul 30 '05
Pros: zoom, price, ease of use Cons: proprietary battery, battery needs recharged
I bought this camera in April 2005 to replace my previous digital camera. I don't expect much, just good quality pictures, but I was interested in a better zoom. I tried a couple other cameras, which I returned, because the zoom caused very grainy and blurry pictures. The zoom on the C765 is great, even at the closest zoom, I get crisp pictures.
It is very easy to use, and I have been very pleased with the pictures I've gotten. The only thing I don't like is that the battery is proprietary and must be recharged. I prefer to be able to add regular batteries. I purchased a second battery pack to always have one charging, and so far I have not lost a picture due to not having replacement batteries available, but I am afraid it's going to happen.
Feature-rich camera with a few weaknesses by cntreras ,Jul 16 '05
Pros: 10x optical zoom; compact form factor Cons: indoor and low-light exposure is poor, battery life is short
Overall, this camera is a great buy for the money. The 10x optical zoom is wonderful, the resolution and color are very good and the form factor work very well.
My main complaint is the poor handling of low light situations. I have had 2 prior Olympus digital cameras, and each was better than the C765. In order to get adequate performance indoors I need to manually set the ISO rating to 400 ("Auto" mode seems to select ISO 100 or the like -- which results in dark and very blurry photos).
Pros: speed, clarity, zoom!, simple to use, manual settings plus good auto, small size considering zoom.. Cons: manual on PDF form which is annoying, no case, need to buy extra memory immediately
I just purchased this camera a week ago to take on a vacation in the Dom Republic... and so far all I can say is I love it! It has been easy to use (even w/o reading the manual yet) and awesome clarity, speed, zoom, etc.
I am not a "camera person" (meaning I have never used anything beyond a simple point and shoot film camera) but this camera is inspiring me to play w/ settings, etc. and I am really enjoying it and my pictures so far look very professional... so far I am in love with it. I wish the manual was not on PDF format but actually came in a book, but other than that, no complaints.
i am happy w/ the purchase. I paid $560 which included: camera, an extra memory card (which was $100.00 and is part of the $560 total amount I paid - you will need this so just buy it), case, tax, etc and think it was a good deal. I would absolutely recommend this camera.
Great Camera for the Price by dunesdude ,Jul 12 '05
Pros: Photos are great at SHQ option. Price is good. Cons: that small included memory chip.
I just bought this after reading the reviews. Although the body is plastic it does not feel cheap at all. This is my 3rd digital camera, and my second with an AF Zoom lens.
Although I did buy the extra battery and a larger memory chip, I think for most people who are not taking large format photos, the single battery would be fine. My total cost with an ample memory chip and a second battery was less than $300!
Incredible Zoom in a small package by iiviiaf ,Sep 19 '04
Pros: Great Zoom lens, Great Battery Life, Size Cons: Expensive memory
I really am very satisfied with the performance of this Digital Camera. It has great zoom which is a huge plus for any sports fan or parent. It also takes very nice pictures at high quality. I am also pleased with the battery life as long as you do not leave the screen on. The only part of the camera which i wish was different would be the memory. The memory is expensive but... it is a very fast memory which is good, and also very small.
C-765 is a good investment for affordable high quality pictures by autuck ,Jul 10 '06
Pros: Durable casing!
Lots of photographic options
Lightweight...not bulky
Very easy to use
High quality results Cons: Have to buy XD card to hold enough pictures
Slow start up
I bought my C-765 just after my son was born nearly 4 years ago. I have taken thousands of pictures in that time.
Yes, like all cameras, if you zoom way in on a very distant object the camera will have to be steady. I have had fewer blurry pictures with this camera than with my previous two digitals.
I always use photo enhancing software on all my pictures before printing (All my pictures could use a little altering) and I have come up with some great pictures!
The video mode is great for short featurettes but does not replace the video camera. Can't zoom in or out while recording and you must check that the "sound recording" is on!
You will need to buy an XD card to be able to hold enough pictures.
For someone like me who wants very good pictures but doesn't want to invest money into something that is just a family hobby...this camera is a great choice!!
