Pros: Long battery life, Stunning clarity, dead-on colors, tons of options, well thought out camera Cons: could use a better metering system
To begin with there is no real benefit for using 35mm equipment lenses because they are not made for the digital SLR ccd. This means that you aren't getting most of the picture you see with 35mm lenses for most of the camera makers. Canon is the ...
Pros: Awesome picture quality, rugged construction, superior optics and the amazing dust-buster! Cons: Can be somewhat shaky on exposures, easily overcome with spot-metering.
I have had this camera since March 05. I was waiting to write a review until I had thoroughly explored this system. That being said, here are my thoughts from the last several months of using this camera. Although the camera itself looks different ...
Pros: Very sturdy SLR-like feel, lens included, interchangeable lens system Cons: Flash system is odd, aiming is through viewfinder only
***** UPDATED AS OF 1/11/05 ****** Scroll to bottom for update! Fresh out of the gates this holiday season was the Olympus E-Volt E300 digital SLR camera. Capitalizing on Olympus' interchangable digital Zukio lens system, this 8.1 Megapixel SLR comes ...
Pros: Easy to use for an SLR. Uses the same remote as older Olympus cameras. Cons: Olympus Master software.
I read literally every review written before I bought this camera. I wanted more than my old Camedia 3.0 could provide, but I set a maximum budget of $800, which ruled out a lot of the more powerful Nikons and Canons. First, if you're coming from a ...
Pros: stunning images for an "old" camera, great ergonomics, build quality, battery life Cons: 4:3 ratio, useless flash, Slow USB xfer speeds (use CF adapter)
Here are the reasons why: 1. This camera (along with the Evolt E-500) has a very high end Kodak sensor that you only get in very expensive cameras. (Newer Olympus SLRs have Panasonic sensors). It is very obvious you have something special when you use ...
Pros: Picture quality, ease of use, battery life, accessories. Cons: Miss the dual memory slots on the Olympus E-10.
The Olympus Evolt E-300 is Olympus' latest entry into the digital SLR category. To sum it up, its a wonderful camera! OK so you want a few more details. Let me start by saying I upgraded from the Olympus E-10 to the E-300. I have been ...
Pros: Solid camera, professional feel, lots of features. Battery life. Plenty of available lenses. Cons: None so far.
I was looking for replacement of my Sony F717, which after 2 years of great service gave up. So I started looking for something which would last longer than that. This time I spent 2 weeks just reading reviews. The one which convinced me is ...
Great camera the best in image quality by steveoliphant ,Jan 10 '05
Pros: Pixel mapping, super sonic wave filter kodak FFT CCD 94% view Cons: No XD slot no Firewire
I work in a camera store in calgary and i get to test them out .
This camera is not really for the pro's but it crushes all in image quality.
Why is this, the lens is better built to work with the ccd.
The ccd is better then most because it has a much better dynamic range.
The midtone contrast is much better aswell.
This camera has a super sonic wave filter that shakes the lint and dust off the ccd and it can remap the ccd and fix stuck, burnt or bright pixels.
E300 has a 94% viewing this is very good for a $1279.00can camera.
No other camera will have as edge to edge sharppness aswell.
A underwater case this mite be cool. All aluminum body no plastic here.
2.5 fps is ok for me.
The amature lens you get with the kit is much better then any canon, nikon, pentax, minolta lens's for any amount of money.
This may seem crazy but very true i have tested this and no i'm no paid by olympus unlike some camera review sit that have.
Little bit of this, little bit of that by garryr ,Dec 03 '05
Pros: Magnificent lens quality, construction, operation; files can be printed 'big'. Cons: All images have to be manipulated, improving contrast and brightness
I work as a photo/journalist and I needed a camera which was sturdy and gave me excellent edge to edge sharpness.
The E 300 certainly does this beyond anything I've seen (and I've used Nikons and Canons in the digital era).
The choice of lenses seems to be slowly broadening with the four thirds system have a very gradual takeup by camera and lens manufacturers. But the two lens I have give me wide and tele capacity without significant loss of quality.
My one problem is that, setting the controls on 'average' my files lack contrast/brightness. I can however fix this in two ways, I believe. The first is PhotoShop (which I use); the second should be (I haven't tried this yet) is to change the settings.
I have had professional prints made up to 18inchby11 with no loss of colour saturation or sharpness.
This is an exceptional accompanied by lenses that do the job for me.
Pros: A good product, well executed Cons: larger buffer would be nice
Have now owned it for 3 months and taken several thousand pictures out doors in adverse winter conditions. Absolutely gorgious pictures. Good handling, well built, easy to use. Lenses are fine quality and well built.
Excellence is here, at a price you can live with! by candace3122 ,Aug 13 '05
Pros: Very long battery life, incredibly fast shutter speed, beautiful photos. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
I have owned this camera and several accessories for almost 6 weeks. I am in love with this entire system. Very easy camera for the novice to use, and all the bells and whistles to captivate the more serious photographer. Use it as a point & shoot, or learn all the fun things you can make this camera do. Wonderful product, highly recommended.

Excellent Quality and Durability - Incredible Value by fitzpb ,Sep 16 '05
Pros: Incredible Value, 4:3 aspect ratio, built to last forever. Cons: No automatic flash pop-up, slow CF write times.
I was an avid film SLR user prior to purchasing this camera and am so glad I made the switch to digital. It allows me to truly explore my creativity without worrying about development costs. The camera itself is well thought out and provides stunning color reproduction. The controls are easy to use and easy to access. The only problem I have experienced is that the camera sometimes loses the ability to focus. I think that tends to happen more often when the battery is running low. Speaking of which, the battery runs forever. I went 3 months without charging it!! All in all a great camera at an unbelievably low price.
