I wanted a second camera that I could keep in my purse or slip in my pocket and never miss a photo opportunity. I bought the Olympus Stylus 410 because I liked the weather proof feature. As soon as I received it I took pictures at the factory default settings. Maybe I would have had better luck had I changed the default to higher resolution but the pictures were terrible. I took shots inside and outside and all of them were awful, dark, the color was off, grainy. I packaged it up and sent it back the next day.
A complete disappointment by epinion25 ,Sep 09 '04
Pros: Small, battery is durable Cons: Terrible photo quality, weak flash, not user friendly. Did I mention terrible quality?
I was practically in tears when I downloaded the 200 pictures that I had taken over the summer with this camera. It was the first time I saw the photos on the computer screen. The first thing I thought was $350 down the drain. I have never seen worse digital quality. Out of 200 photos maybe only one or two had decent quality. I liked the camera because it had all the features I was looking for . It was small, compact, and had a lasting battery. The flash on this camera hardly operates at all. Forget about all your 9 settings. Because either way you'll end up with a poor quality. All my photos were fuzzy and dark even on the best setting. They are distorted and look fuzzy. None are crisp. My advice: Return the camera and exchange it with a canon. Believe me, the sales Rep is expecting you!
More thumbs down on this one by anszpak ,May 21 '04
Pros: weatherproof, small, price Cons: grainy picts, poor light balancing - everything seems dark and dreary.
I really liked the feel of this camera but the performance isn't there. I've had olympus digitals in the past and thought they were OK - but not this one. Maybe the camedia's are better.
The pictures are grainy with bad contrast and compression indoors. poor focus outdoors. Delay from pushing button to picture taking a bit too long... miss the good quick shots.
Battery life seemed OK. compression inefficient: the 3.8mp shots I took were larger than the same shot taken at 5.1mp on a sony p-10. The p-10 set at 1.2 and 3.1mp still blow this camera away.
It has some nice pre-programmed settings, but they have drawbacks. For example, if you switch to "landscape", the resolution is lowered.
All in all, if price is the issue, go with a good 3.2megapixel.
Pros: Super nice ergonomics, weatherproof, stylish, Camedia software is great. Cons: Very blurry, grainy images and BAD pic quality indoors. xD card too expensive(80$ for 256mb!)
I have been researching this site off and on for two years, considering each review valid regardless of the opinions. I purchased this new upgraded Stylus D-410 today from the Camera Shop in Tacoma, WA. After returning a Casio EX-Z4U two weeks ago due to a number of problems, I basically narrowed my criteria down to the following items: I want a 4 megapixel, compact digital camera with fast image processing & no shutter lag, clear images, point and shoot simplicity, optical and digital zoom w/ viewfinder. This camera is decently fast, w/ very minimal shutter lag but more so than the EX-Z4U. The reason I am so bummed is the very poor quality of images taken. I took 25 different pictures on various settings from different locations and they are all very grainy and blurred. Even at the highest VGA setting, the D410 does a very disappointing job of taking clear pictures. Hopefully this is a defective camera, maybe a lens problem. I will exchange it tomorrow for the Canon S400.
Olympus 7010 Digital Camera, Stylus 12.0MP The world's smallest 7X wide-angle optical zoom digital camera, the compact Olympus Stylus 7010 certainly doesn't skimp on power. In addition to getti...
