Excellent!!
by digiguru ,Nov 10 '03
Pros: 6 DVD/CD carousel. Good quality picture and sound. Cons: Cheap looking remote control.
Today is my first day with Onkyo CP701 DVD player. I tried playing MP3s, CDs, DVDs. All of them worked fine.
It played my poor quality MP3 CDs extremely well. I was really impressed with that.
I also played "Black Hawk Down" and it came out pretty well too. Chapter skipping is really really fast.
I connected its Component video out to my Denon AVR and pictures looked awesome. It also has a COAX digital out.
What I didn't like is its Remote Control, which has a cheap look.

Great player
by drummerdood ,Feb 09 '04
Pros: Great pic and sound, easy setup, nice menu system for those who arent HT wizards. Cons: None.
Upgraded from my Fisher single DVD player, a device I got for free. I matched this player to my Onkyo reciever and HT500 speaker package, and could not be happier. The recievers remote takes care of the whole shebang, so I found no need for the DVD remote once I had it all set up.
DD5.1 sounds great, DTS in 5.1 on "Pirates of the Carribean" sounds phenomenal.
I have only my old Fisher to compare this too. But that said, this is a great player with tons of features, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a carousel player.
Purchased for $115 on ecost.com (refurbed unit)

Onkyo DV-CP701
by acsuppa ,Jul 18 '04
Pros: Great sound, picture quality and style. Cons: Cheap looking controller. Works well, but cheap looking.
I recently purchased the Onkyo DV-CP701. I This is a great DVD player. The picture quality and sound are excellent. I also like the design of the player. It has a nice sleek front panel and the blue light bar give it a nice glow. It has all the connectors you will ever need. It doesn't have a DVI connector but it does have component connectors, which still provide great picture quality.
