Pros: None Cons: See above.
Having a brief and contentious association with the ING group of "businesses" I have to say I wouldn't even give them one star, if that's possible. The fact that the company has such a high rating seems to be due to the high number of self-promoting people who are trying to earn money off of referrals.
That should be a lesson about the internet in general: NEVER never never purchase anything based upon the opinion/suggestion of someone who stands to benefit financially from your purchase.
As a bank, I was told ING's "Lifeline" bank (or whatever it is) is not associated with the FDIC (after I asked why they couldn't wire my money to my bank) and that is a lie, apparently. So, their employees lie to suit the occasion. Another employee told me that mailing a check was safer than wiring. They just don't make sense.
The problem is that NO ONE is accountable, and the majority of employees I've dealt with were rude and it was obvious their main objective was to hold onto my money for as long as possible, while they collect interest no less. It outta be illegal.
Pros: -$25 to join with refferal
-great customer service
-easy to use
-No fees! Cons: -transactions take a couple of days to complete
Recently joined INGdirect online banks' Orange Savings account and initially made a mistake in enrolling that caused me unable to retrieve my customer number, i called customer service and not only was i speaking with someone in seconds, my problem was solved by a articulate and friendly representative with out delay.
Transferring money was a breeze also, i have since transferred the majority of my savings to them without hassle or error. Another nice feature is that they give you $25 for joining with a customer referral, and $10 if you refer friends. I have a few referrals left(you can refer up to 25 people) if anyone is interested email me at jthomaswsu@yahoo.com
Pros: Nothing ...0 rating... Cons: Don't waste time on ING refinance.. .
I had a very bad experience with ING today... they pre approved and approved me again afetr getting my documents and they cam up with a appraisal which is 100k less than house sold in the last 30 days and asked me to pay 90k as down payment to process the loan or charge me with processing fee of 390 dollars..
This is worst refinance experience I ever had... My lender is more than willing to refinance my home with little more points..
Don't waste your time on ING mortagage(especially the easy orange one).. do sign agree on payinig any processing fee unless you make sure that your are going to get aloan from them....
ING Direct load of crap. by a_home_owner ,May 16 '09
Pros: - East to start off the process (dont get trapped) Cons: - They would waste your time.- Un-cooperative
ING Direct is full of crap. In 30 days, they did appraisal of my house (real worth- $690K based on the house sold in last 30 days) and they came up with 2 funny numbers ($620K and $535K) for 2 different mortgage products 2 weeks apart. - appraised value on March 9, 2009 : $620K - appraised value on March 23, 2009: $540K And OF COURSE, THEY DONT LISTEN EITHER- LOAD OF CRAP. I got my house refinanced with appraised value of $690K with a competing interest rate. So my advise to you folks - do waste you time on ING Direct, unless your loan-to-value ratio is less than 50%, in that case any bank would love to offer mortgate to you.
Pros: Easy income verification Great rates No closing costs Good customer service Cons: Need to stay on top of loanthey didn't give a great pre-approval letter with details
Everything was exactly as they said. I paid no closing costs, mortgage closed on time, easy income verification, good customer service. I think I had to refax something and I had to keep on top of the mortgage process, but I was thrilled with the rates, closing costs, no escrow requirement etc. They saved me thousands.
