Oreck DutchTech DTX1200AD Bagged Canister Vacuum

Pros: Sturdy, reliable machine that does a great job
Cons: Wish I could buy bags for it a the grocery store!

I got this vacuum as a wedding gift over five years ago and I still really love it. We have three large dogs and three cats so we use it a lot!! It really takes a beating in our home. It's pretty light so it's not too much of a hassle to carry up and down the stairs. Oreck has been a nice company to deal with too. They keep telling me to bring it in for a tune up for free but I never have and it still works great. I guess my only complaint is that I have to go to an Oreck store or order online for bags.

Pros: Light weight, easy to return
Cons: Poor performance, scratches floor, tools fall off.

After yet another Sears vacuum died prematurely, I decided to try an Oreck, in part because of the easy return policy. An elderly friend has a small upright and loves it, largely because it is small and light.
Well, the Oreck was a disaster. The brush scratches the floor. The various accessories fall off, and it just doesn't do a good job. Additionally, the cord is too short.
