Pros: Very versatile and able to make a 2lb loaf if desired. Cons: Somewhat large.
This particular object is another 'toy' that I have been wanting for some time but just could not justify spending money for. I am one of those types who make bread by hand on a regular basis and enjoy the taste but have often wished for something that ...

This was the second bread machine that we have bought. The attraction was the rabid bake cycle. ...

Pros: I have absolutely no pros to list for the Oster Express Bread Machine. Cons: Please read what I have listed in the review. That tells it all.
It was impossible to remove the bread pan from the machine without using a screwdriver to pry it out on both sides. I used a recipe I have used before in another machine, and the bread was inedible. The machine was set on the recommended medium for ...

My second Oster and I'm disappointed
by kooldog ,Dec 16 '04
Pros: Price is very reasonable Cons: Takes up lots of counter space
No delay time on dough setting
I loved my first Oster bread machine and used it for 8 years before it gave out and thought it was a good name so ordered a second one. The first recipe I tried "Honey Wheat Loaf" fell in the center after the third rising and came out heavy and dry. My next attempt was to program pizza dough to be ready when I came home from work. Guess what, you can't use the delay timer on the dough setting. Bummer! I want my money back. I can do better mixing by hand.

best breadmaker I've tried
by mac4cy ,Mar 10 '07
Pros: good bread, reliable Cons: big to store
We returned 2 others before getting this one. It does a good job and is simple to use. The downfall is it takes up a lot of room to store for as often as we use it.

Happy making bread
by crmcwolf ,Jan 11 '07
Pros: Reliable, easy to use Cons: None
I've had the Oster for a little over a year. It's the first and only bread maker I've owned, and I'm very happy with it. I make one or two loaves a week, and haven't had any problems with it. It's easy to use, has several settings, and a delay timer. The recipes in the book use readily available ingredients and turn out well. I bought one for my daughter Christmas '05, and for my son, Christmas '06. Although they don't use them as frequently as I do, they are both happy with them. For about $50 (at Kohl's), they can't be beat.

Love my Oster
by kezt777 ,Dec 28 '03
Pros: Fast, Easy, nice design Cons: Bread pan can be slightly difficult to snap into place.
I am not the best in the kitchen but WOW this breadmaker is so simple and easy. The instruction/cookbook that comes with is very easy to follow and easy to understand. written in nice plain english (or french in canada) for those of us who may not know all the 'ins and outs' of baking. Three step process for cooking your bread! Large window to peek in to see how its going, countdown timer, and so on make this machine an excellent choice. I have had friends with other brands having a lot of trouble with the blades of their bread machines but not with this one so far. Excellent!

Do Not Recommend
by bakeaway ,Jul 28 '08
Pros: Bread machine was a gift so I am not out of my own pocket money. Cons: Don't waste your money...research and spend a little bit more for a better machine.
My sister bought this as a Christmas gift; after seven months of sitting on the shelf, tried to make bread. I made the Express Bake white bread on the first try; the yeast, bread flour and remaining ingredients were all fresh, the bread was a heavy mess with the dough still raw in the middle. All measurements were followed exactly as prescribed and all ingredients were added in the specific order of the recipe. I tried three more recipes in the book using different cycles hoping for better results; all three loaves of bread turned out the same as the first. Totally disappointed, I will go back to making my bread using my Kitchenaid mixer with the dough hook; at least with my Kitchenaid I can make edible, delicious homemade bread.

Motor died on third loaf!
by forbread44 ,May 31 '05
Pros: The first two loaves came out perfect Cons: The motor died on the third loaf of bread!
A bread machine should last more than three loaves. I was enjoying the machine and excited about trying more until the motor started screeching and died on the third loaf. Very sad....

Not what I expected
by trilby999 ,May 16 '05
Pros: When it did work, it made a nice loaf of bread. Cons: Electronics fried in two years of minimal usage.
Received one for Xmas two years ago, it was broken (electronics were fried) the minute it came out of the box.
Got a replacement.
Now, two years later, (aren't they supposed to last longer that that?) the "new" one has fried electonics.
I intend to purchase another bread machine... but certainly not an Oster.
Bad experience.

Great deal
by kelliemusic ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: The price is great and is has quite a few options as well. Cons: I wouldn't use the dark setting
I bought this breadmaker for my boyfriend for Christmas. We absolutely love it. I did a lot of research and read about a lot of breadmaker's not mixing well enough. Also, the bread burning or sometimes being doughy in the middle. This one is awesome. We have made cinnamon raisin, white, wheat, and french bread and several pizza doughs. They have all come out perfect. I would not recommend using the dark crust setting. I believe it will burn. We haven't tried it but I read that a lot. We find that light is just right. It is real easy clean up and the timer works great. It is relatively quiet. We are going to try to make the jam in it next. Can't wait.

Timer doesn't work with Dough Setting
by anonymously ,Nov 11 '09
Pros: would be nice to have a bread machine Cons: Timer doesn't work with dough setting.
Seems to have problems mixing the dough.
I was very excited to get this as I was looking forward to having fresh bread, pizza dough, dinner rolls, etc. ready when I get home from work. Unfortunately the timer does not work with the Dough setting and nowhere was this mentioned in the product description, on the box, or even in the manual! The only way to find out is to try it for yourself. I then called customer service to confirm that this setting doesn't work, and it took them quite a while to figure it out too. I will be returning the machine as it is completely useless to me. If I have to be at home anyway I can make bread without a machine.
I have made two batches of pizza dough in the machine. The first came out great, but the second time the machine did not fully mix all the ingredients.

bad choice
by tlfmd ,Apr 08 '06
Pros: 0 Cons: leaden bad bread
Makes leaden lumps of coal, despite all advantages, electronically verified temps, new yeast, even boxed bread batter. I am looking for its replacement.
