by three_ster Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Jul 19 '04
Pros: Great Quality, records very well, Nice Playback Mode

Excellent low-mid price range DVD burner, with one weakness.

by gamercubed , Jan 04 '04
Pros: Great progressive scan component video quality, recording is easy and generally good quality.
Cons: Does not play DVD+R media, remote has annoying door covering some frequently-used buttons.
With set-top DVD burners becoming affordable, we decided to take the plunge. We already have a DVD+R burner on our computer (more on this later), but we wanted an easier way to convert our old VHS camcorder tapes to DVD. After doing quite a bit of ...

Good bye to the VCR

by coffeedrink88 , Jan 02 '06
Pros: Ease of use, functionality, versatility
Cons: None really
I was getting tired of juggling tapes around... putting them in to see what was recorded on them to make sure I didn't tape over anything I hadn't seen yet, etc. Then having a bad recording because the tape I used several times was worn out. Plus I ...

Great little machine

by jondaris , Jan 22 '06
Pros: Picture quality, uses nearly all media. Great feature set for the price.
Cons: Often confusing menus and manual. Scroll wheel on remote is annoying.
I have wanted a DVD recorder and DVR for quite a while. I finally decided it was time to bite the bullet and buy one. I was running out of room to store videotapes, and hoped to start dubbing the indispensible ones to DVD and free up some room. ...

Love/hate relationship with a DVD recorder

by richlaird , Apr 14 '06
Pros: Lots of features and flexibility at a moderate price
Cons: Not easy to use, awkward remote, difficult instructions
A while ago, CNN reported that Americans spend, on average, 20 minutes trying to get a new “gadget” to work before taking it back for a refund. If this is your approach to new electronics toys, don’t even think about it with this one. It is ...

Excellent unit - We LOVE it!

by briank16 , Feb 06 '04
Pros: EXCELLENT unit for around $350 bucks. Light years ahead of the old VCR!
Cons: Less versatile than units with Hard Drives built in for those who can afford them.
We recently received our Panasonic DMR-E50 and we absolutely love it. It basically replaces your VCR by improving on and removing all of the annoying and cumbersome things we all hate about VCR's. I won't go into all of the technical specs since other ...

Good VCR Replacement

by toolmandbq , Oct 28 '05
Pros: 100 mg harddrive, quite small easy set up
Cons: 24 hour setup for TV guide, Manual
My good old VCR was dieing a slow death. You can't fine a good VCR for sale anymore, you have to go with a DVD recorder. There are many out on the market and their prices are going down fast, but if you spend a little more You can get a great machine. ...

A DVD recorder to consider buying

by dssdoc , Jun 01 '03
Pros: Reasonable price. Progressive scan. VCRplus+
Cons: Puzzling remote control. DVD-R discs don't play in my older DVD player.
I've been planning on transferring some programs from my TiVo to DVDs, and permanentizing our wedding from the VCR tape my brother-in-law recorded, as well as some other VCR tapes I've accumulated.

With the prices on DVD recorders starting to...

Pros: Picture quality, ease of use, IR blaster, High speed dubbing.
Cons: TV Guide, remote thumbwheel, Owners manual, inability to transfer chapters to DVD

Research your cable before buying.

by donaldavis , Nov 29 '05
Pros: Excellent recording quality on harddrive and DVD. High speed HD to DVD recording.
Cons: Lack of support for major feature (see review). Doesn't record DVD+RW.
When I bought the Panasonic DMR-EH50, it had almost all the features I wanted-- harddrive recording and editing, recording to DVD+R (although not to DVD+RW) and SD card, and easy-to-use interface with the On-Screen TV Guide for setting up recording, an ...

Pana. DMR-E50 frustrations.

by kartflyr , Jun 27 '04
Pros: Good rec Q. Fairly straight frwd to use basic functions. DVD-RAM time slip funtions.
Cons: Weak in ability to rec DVD-R's(other than Pana.'s). Clumsy control of playback and editing accuracy.
The beauty of time slip function makes this rec'r my choice. DVD-RAM is the only way to go. Easy to use until you reach the point where you must depend on the manual, which could use some improvements and clearity. Quality of rec. is truely superior to ...
