Pros: Low price, excellent performance from both VCR and DVD sections, Super Drive Cons: No FireWire input, MP3 playback could be better, manual could be written better
Summary: It is strange but the best consumer-level VHS VCR you can get has just recently become available to the US customers, when the VCRs are dying. And even more strange is that it comes together with a DVD recorder in ...

Pros: Once trained, the quality is OK. Cons: DVD-R disks are not playable everywhere.
Incredibly hard to use.
Summary: The WSJ recently did a story where they mentioned that the analyst predicted demand for home consumer DVD burners failed to materialize due to usability problems. I was happy to see that acknowledged! I'm pretty good with gadgets, but it took me ...

Pros: Dubbing to DVD from VHS very easy. Dubbing from Tivo is very conventional. Cons: Weird User Manual.
Summary: Anybody here familiar with the Product Adoption Curve? Its the classic 'bell curve' that shows how consumers adopt new technology over the lifetime of a product. I am clearly not an Early Adopter, but am a consumer who typically buys a new technology ...

Pros: Easy dubbing between tape and DVD Cons: Using tuner with DVD in tray
Summary: We treated ourselves to this unit as a Christmas present, and by Memorial Day weekend, I'm still very satisfied. One of the main reasons we decided on this unit was to transfer aging VHS tapes to DVD. These are both home movies and TV shows that we ...

Pros: Quality output, ease of use, affordable media, price point Cons: Media issues, cumbersome menu, missing several pro functions (firewire, etc...)
Summary: Overall, the experience I have had with this model has been good. We bought it to put our VHS collection and Hi8 tape collection over on more convenient and cheaper DVD media. What I have loved: 1) When watching DVD's recorded in XP record mode, you ...

Pros: If it was running for president, I would vote for it! Cons: A rocket scientist couldn't figure out the manual!
Summary: User guide is very unfriendly. I will be lucky to figure it out before the warranty runs out! It is a "Seek and Ye shall find" method. The user guide did make a great coloring book for the grand kids! UPDATE: Could not get VCR to record an acceptable

Pros: When it works, it works great. Cons: It doesn't work.
Summary: I bought this machine to transfer home movies shot on my video camera on mini-DV tapes to DVD disks and VCR tapes. Everything hooked up just fine, but the DVD recorder worked only sporadically. Half the time, it wouldn't read a brand-new DVD-R disk.
