Pros: AWESOME picture, Easy Setup, Light/Easy to move, Lots of inputs Cons: STUCK PIXELS THAT ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, Limited HD programming, HORRIBLE support from Panasonic
Like many others here that have posted reviews, I did quite a bit of searching before deciding on this TV and it wasn't actually my first choice. Originally I had decided on a DLP TV, but then came across some issues that put a damper on that for me. I ...
I spent about 2 months researching the latest tv technology, including Plasma, DLP, LCOS and RPTV. I wanted an HD ready plasma unit but was priced out of that market. DLP was my second choice but after reading up on the Samsung DLP TVs (which is the ...
Pros: Superb picture, styling, connections, viewing angles and controls Cons: Full screen DVI overscan, only one DVI connector
I spent many months researching the alternatives Plasma, Standalone LCD Projector, DLP and LCD projection finally settling on LCD projection and in particular the PT-50LC13. We looked at the Sony Wega LCD projection which was a little more ...
Pros: Fantastic Picture, great up-conversion from S-Video. Cons: Zoom mode clips most widescreen TV shows top and bottom.
I bought my PT-50LC13 on ebay, refurbished; I was a little nervous, having read the other reviews here on the ballast problems, but I went ahead anyhow with a low bid, and am glad I did. I've waited 3 months before posting to give the TV time to fail, ...
Pros: Great picture quality....when it works. Cons: Uses some inferior parts, causing many headaches for owners.
I own this unit as well and had nothing but problems with it. When it works, it's great. Just a couple of weeks ago, a technician from a Panasonic authorized repair company finally told me what I've been waiting to hear all along. EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! I ...
Pros: Sleek, lot cheaper than a 50" plasma and performs better over a longer period Cons: Standard Cable (even just plain digital) looks just so-so. takes around 1 min to startup
Having researched a lot of HDTVs including DLP, Plasma etc., the Panasonic PT-50LC13 represents the best out of the lot out there! Both from a quality and price perspective, it represents a great buy - purchased mine from Circuit City for $3000 and was ...
Pros: Fine picture looks nice sound is not two bad. Cons: It chews up expensive Lamps and the warranty is terrible.
Hi everyone I got ripped off two this piece of junk eats lamps. The first time about 6 months the lamp went out and of course they do not carry the lamps in stock or maybe they do and they just cannot get enough of them. Paid around 3000.00 for this ...
Pros: Great Picture, Lots of input. SD card reader. Great sound and DVI input.
Cons: Poor cooling design for the bulb. No room for cooling. Limited viewing angle.
After looking at many televisions in its class we choose the Panasonic because of its name and previous experience with Panasonic products. I felt that this TV could have done better. It has great pic. when it works but I have been replacing the bulbs so ...
Pros: We're using the DV input with wonderful results. Planet Earth in hi-def looks great! Cons: Stock ballast defective in this model series, but repairable.
June 2007 update The rating of this device is being raised slightly because after repair, it hasn't failed in two years. The first couple of years with this were unacceptable because of the short TY-LA1000 lamp life. Sometime in the third year, the ...
Pros: good picture quality and features Cons: periodic bulb and ballast problems
On 12-23-03, we purchased Panasonic LCD TV Model PT50LC13 from Circuit City, and paid $2,782.39 (after price adjustment) plus TV stand $299.97 plus tax $184.94 = Total 3,267.30. Two months later on 2-29-04, the TV was dead. Under the manufacturer’s ...
Pros: Beautiful outside cabinet, great sound, decent picture. Cons: $300 bulbs blow out every few months; very long start-up time.
This TV has the greatest outside cabinet (eye appeal), excellent sound and picture quality, which is why I bought it. As for its performance, it can't get much worse, despite me rarely even using it. I'm a busy girl and pretty much bought it to watch a ...
Pros: picture Cons: Support difficult & component failure, lamp 5 times in 4 years
Purchased in fall of 2003, its now winter of 2007. We just had our 5th bulb go out 3 days before Christmas (of course there is no one open). The last time out temperamental TV went out on us, it was super bowl time. I'm still trying to figure out what ...
Pros: Great picture lots of features Cons: Life expectancy on the lamp: 3000 to 5000 hours
You're not gonna believe this. The lamp died exactly 1 day before the warranty expired! So I got replaced free of charge. The cheapest replacement lamp I found was $288. I love the picture! Extremely sharp and bright. I love this TV alot! I purchased ...
Pros: It was nice while it lasted. Cons: It won't last.
1st bulb went out in 13 months, 2nd bulb lasted 2 months, 3rd bulb lasted 2 months. New ballast installed - new problem. Now we can only watch tv in 4 minute increments, when you turn the tv on, it turns itself off in 4 minutes. You would be better off throwing your money away (it would be easier to carry to the curb on trash day).
Pros: Fantastic picture, decent sound, lots of inputs. Cons: Several inputs died, two lamp replacements, nobody works weekends
Oh man, this tv is unbelievable. First of all, the picture is awesome. High def looks fantastic. Standard def, not so good, but a lot of that depends on the broadcast(reg ESPN2 is the worst). Anyway, the picture is really good.
I had it for 6 months and the bulb went out. Warranty covered, not a huge problem, except my wife and I got bored and went out and adopted a friggin cat. I HATE cats.
So we got this letter in the mail about the class action lawsuit and tried to see what the extended warranty covered at a local panasonic authorized repair dealer. Guy was a complete jerk to us and basically said it covered nothing. This is a problem since my component video input numbers 3 and 4 don't appear to work. Oh well, I'm not paying to get that fixed.
Now, a year and a half later this new bulb went out. I'm guessing I could be close to 3000 hours. COULD BE, but hopefully not. Anyway, bulb number two is out, one more before November 2k7 and it's good news for us. TV is horrible joke that I don't get.
