Pros: Open natural sound that belies its size and price! Cons: Cannot handle more than 75 clean watts. Not quite the equal of PSB's Alpha.
It is not uncommon to find small speakers outperforming larger floorstanding models these days and certainly two Canadian based companies like Paradigm and PSB make quite a statement with their high performing low priced Titan and Alpha models ...
Pros: Size, Easily mounted, Great Line response, Good Low End Definition for the Size, Outstanding Imaging Cons: I Wish the Grilles Came Off. . . .
Background
The speakers these were replacing were a pair of Yamaha 636's. The Yamahas were substantially larger and heavier, but didn't sound good at medium volume levels when any bass was introduced, they tended to flap quite a bit, but...
Pros: Sound, easily mountable Cons: lack of removable grilles
I have to admit, I love Paradigm speakers, and have them on everything I own. They have such a great price/value ratio, and their sound is excellent. I have auditioned multiple brands and models of hi end stereo speakers, yet a still keep coming back...
Pros: Excellent sound quality for the price, expandable system. Cons: A little large for a home theater system, but workable.
Until about a year ago, I was a Bose disciple. Everything we owned was Bose, both in my home and in my car, and we truly thought that Bose was one of best systems we'd ever heard.
This, however, was before we'd heard the Paradigm Titan...
Pros: Great sound, incredible value! Cons: Reveals the limits of the original recordings.
When I bought my stereo setup back in '92 I was impressed with the sound coming out of my Infinity Reference speakers. After I got a new car with a Bose sound system, I wasn't so happy with the home stereo anymore. I had a couple constraints, though -- a ...
Pros: Performance for the price Cons: Midrange accuracy
Here is a speaker that will change your mind about large speakers. Paradigm has brought to the general public speaker performance that had not been attainable in this price range. Any one who has listened to these speakers carefully will admire what...
Pros: Flat curve, well defined, and price !
Cons: Grille won't come off ; a bit "hot" around 100Hz.
It's getting hard to write something about Paradigm speakers without reusing the same adjectives all the time. Over the past couple of years I had the privilege to buy various speakers from this company (Monitor 9, CC-370, PS-1200 and now Titans) to ...
I was putting together my home theater system when my focus turned to speakers. I had a pair of Velodyne LD-1’s that I purchased a few years back and was planning to purchase another set to act as my “rear” speakers. After learning they were no longer...
Pros: Awesome sound for the price! Cons: Not magnetically shielded for close placement to monitor.
I needed a decent pair of speakers for under $200 that I could later add a subwoofer to build a top-notch system for both home theater and music.
I was very close to purchasing the Cambridge Soundworks New Ensemble II which can be had for $185...
Pros: Huge sound, nice looks, tight punchy bass Cons: Midrange is good for the price but not as good as other models
I bought these speakers because of advice given to me at www.hometheaterforum.com and the fact that living in Canada is great if you like Paradigm(the prices are low). Other speakers I was considering were: JBL N26
...
I've owned Bose 401 speakers and when I first got my set of Paradigm's I was amazed. These are great speakers. The sound is crisp, clean and rich. I'd choose the Paradigm Titan's over the Bose 401s any day.
They cost less too.
Pros: Cheap, Great sound Cons: none considering the price
The Paradigm Titans are the biggest bookshelf speaker in the Performance series of speakers. The Performance Series are Paradigm's affordable audiophile speaker series. The Titan almost simlar in a design view of the Mini Monitor, has many of the same...
Pros: Great sound! There's nothing that comes remotely close in this price range to the Titan Cons: Grills cannot be removed, not a big deal though..
OK, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I have a friend who is a audio engineer in LA and he told me about these speakers. He is using them in his studio, recently replacing the famed Yahama NS-10M with the Titans...I spoke to him about components as ...
Pros: Durable - no problems in @ 10 years of use. Great sound with meaty low-frequencies. Cons: You'll never want to buy new speakers.
When I went shopping for my first home audio system 10 years ago (gosh has it been that long?) I stumbled upon Paradigm speakers. I was in college and didn't have much cash, but I absolutely fell in love with the Monitor 7. They were out of my price ...
Pros: Wonderful rich sound, good bass, modest size Cons: Haven't found one yet
I went looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers to start my system. I thought I had listened to everything when I bought a pair of boston acoustic CR8's. Two days later I found a shop where I now buy all of my audio equipment. I listened to what they...
Pros: Excellent range.. crisp.. nice brown sound!! ... made in Canada Cons: Absolutely none !!!
I listened to a lot of different speakers before I bought my Titan's..
BOSE, Mission, Cerwin Vega, Tannoy, JBL, PSB, Sony, Castle, Acoustic Research, etc..... In my opinion they are without a doubt the nicest sounding bookshelf speakers on the...
Pros: Immaculate Sound. Performance outwit speakers of twice as much in value in all manners. Cons: I wish grill could come out
Reviewed with Arcam A85 diva amp and DR 6000 and gave true titan performance. Once you let them open they will improve themselves for couple of weeks until they reach there zenith.
They give well defined bass and are very strong and visible...
Warning: Titan v.4 differs from v.5 by towncommon ,Jan 16 '07
Pros: The v.4 Monitor and Performance Series are now obsolete, so bargains may become available. Cons: Paradigm makes good speakers and does a poor job of naming them.
In one of those "we don't want you to understand" marketing moves that characterize the audio biz, Paradigm has announced a new set of speakers and names replacing the "old" Performance and Monitor series.
In particular the Performance Titan v.4, reviewed here, is not the direct ancestor of the Monitor Titan v.5. The new Titan is billed as a replacement for the v.4 Monitor 3 and 5, with a 7.5" midrange, and lists for U.S. $499/pair, twice the v.4 Titan. The Atom Monitor v.5 is said to replace the v.4 Atom and Titan (with a 5.5" midrange, as in the old Atom) and lists for $249/pair. The Mini Monitor v.5 is in between at $379/pair. A websearch for "paradigm monitor v.5" will turn up the press release -- as of this writing, the Paradigm web site shows the older speakers.
Pros: Excellent mid and treble, small and compact speaker with incredible clarity for the dollar spent Cons: Lower frequency notes, grill not detachable
This is an amazing little speaker with excellent sound and quality build, as can usually be expected from Paradigm speakers. At first i was contemplating over the Titan and the Monitor series Mini Monitor speaker, but in the end the difference in sound and increase in price just wasn't worth it, the Titan kept up very well and still does after years of movies and music. I would recommend these speakers to somebody looking for a budget speaker which will support the mid and upper frequency's for their home set up, or for somebody who enjoys to listen to rock, punk, or country. These speakers do play some rap well, but for the lower frequency beats you find in so many rap songs they will not excel in that field.
Exceptional sound for the price! by zx9rblade ,Dec 21 '03
Pros: Everything so far! Cons: None yet!
I reviewed many speakers after making a sad mistake and buying Radio Shack's brand when they were on sale.
I narrowed it down to Mirage, Canton, Mission, Energy & Paradigm's. I listened to them all and bang for your buck I found Paradigm ruled them all, for my ear that is. The Energy Take 5.2 system is nice but you will not get the stereo sound you want with CD music. Canton had a hollow sound with lots of detail as did the Mission's. The Mirage were a little overpriced so I did not spend much time on them. I went with Paradigm and I am very pleased with the purchase. They are Canadian made so you are not paying for all the extra's like shipping, importing fees and such. They are just a good quality made speaker at a good resonable price for upper high end stuff.
Pros: Wonderful sound quality, great value Cons: None
Firstly, my Titans are somewhat under-utilised. I have them wired into surround duty. I have wired them into the B channel of my receiver previously, and must say it left me wondering why I bothered to buy a set of Monitor 7's as my fronts. I honestly believe the sound quality of these little speakers is equal to that of the much larger (and more expensive) 7's. For the money, I dare you to find a better... no, make that comparable speaker.
these are amazing speakers!! by rickcarra ,Jul 24 '05
Pros: very detailed little speaker Cons: none
I purchased my first set of Titans a little under a year ago. AT the time I used them as mains in a Rotel set up in my second system. When my son and I would set in the back room and listen to music for hours and were just amazed at how these sounded. My son and I enjoy collecting audio equipment so alot has come through my door over the years. and I can honestly say these are the best speakers I've heard for around 200.00
