True Titans

by vikramtaank , Jan 01 '03
Pros: Immaculate Sound. Performance outwit speakers of twice as much in value in all manners.
Cons: I wish grill could come out
Reviewed with Arcam A85 diva amp and DR 6000 and gave true titan performance. Once you let them open they will improve themselves for couple of weeks until they reach there zenith.

They give well defined bass and are very strong and visible...

Warning: Titan v.4 differs from v.5
by towncommon ,Jan 16 '07
Pros: The v.4 Monitor and Performance Series are now obsolete, so bargains may become available.
Cons: Paradigm makes good speakers and does a poor job of naming them.
In one of those "we don't want you to understand" marketing moves that characterize the audio biz, Paradigm has announced a new set of speakers and names replacing the "old" Performance and Monitor series.

In particular the Performance Titan v.4, reviewed here, is not the direct ancestor of the Monitor Titan v.5. The new Titan is billed as a replacement for the v.4 Monitor 3 and 5, with a 7.5" midrange, and lists for U.S. $499/pair, twice the v.4 Titan. The Atom Monitor v.5 is said to replace the v.4 Atom and Titan (with a 5.5" midrange, as in the old Atom) and lists for $249/pair. The Mini Monitor v.5 is in between at $379/pair. A websearch for "paradigm monitor v.5" will turn up the press release -- as of this writing, the Paradigm web site shows the older speakers.

Paradigm Titan
by tuneman77 ,Jun 18 '06
Pros: Excellent mid and treble, small and compact speaker with incredible clarity for the dollar spent
Cons: Lower frequency notes, grill not detachable
This is an amazing little speaker with excellent sound and quality build, as can usually be expected from Paradigm speakers. At first i was contemplating over the Titan and the Monitor series Mini Monitor speaker, but in the end the difference in sound and increase in price just wasn't worth it, the Titan kept up very well and still does after years of movies and music. I would recommend these speakers to somebody looking for a budget speaker which will support the mid and upper frequency's for their home set up, or for somebody who enjoys to listen to rock, punk, or country. These speakers do play some rap well, but for the lower frequency beats you find in so many rap songs they will not excel in that field.

Exceptional sound for the price!
by zx9rblade ,Dec 21 '03
Pros: Everything so far!
Cons: None yet!
I reviewed many speakers after making a sad mistake and buying Radio Shack's brand when they were on sale.

I narrowed it down to Mirage, Canton, Mission, Energy & Paradigm's. I listened to them all and bang for your buck I found Paradigm ruled them all, for my ear that is. The Energy Take 5.2 system is nice but you will not get the stereo sound you want with CD music. Canton had a hollow sound with lots of detail as did the Mission's. The Mirage were a little overpriced so I did not spend much time on them. I went with Paradigm and I am very pleased with the purchase. They are Canadian made so you are not paying for all the extra's like shipping, importing fees and such. They are just a good quality made speaker at a good resonable price for upper high end stuff.

Makes me wonder
by adawa ,Oct 09 '03
Pros: Wonderful sound quality, great value
Cons: None
Firstly, my Titans are somewhat under-utilised. I have them wired into surround duty. I have wired them into the B channel of my receiver previously, and must say it left me wondering why I bothered to buy a set of Monitor 7's as my fronts. I honestly believe the sound quality of these little speakers is equal to that of the much larger (and more expensive) 7's. For the money, I dare you to find a better... no, make that comparable speaker.

these are amazing speakers!!
by rickcarra ,Jul 24 '05
Pros: very detailed little speaker
Cons: none
I purchased my first set of Titans a little under a year ago. AT the time I used them as mains in a Rotel set up in my second system. When my son and I would set in the back room and listen to music for hours and were just amazed at how these sounded. My son and I enjoy collecting audio equipment so alot has come through my door over the years. and I can honestly say these are the best speakers I've heard for around 200.00
