Pros: Spectacular picture and input jacks Cons: Sound (Dolby) is average. Pricey if not on sale.
We haven't bought a TV since May, 1989 and so it was a whole different world when we went looking. Scouted around for a good month and finally settled on the Philips widescreen HDTV and it is superb. The picture is clear, clear, clear and the DVDs we pla ...
Pros: HD Images, Price, Multiple AV Connectors, Sleek design Cons: Heavy. Limited adjustments available.
I want to preface this review with an important note: The rating I gave is geared for HDTV or DVD viewing, my primary reason for getting the HD widescreen. If you only intend to use this TV for analog 4:3 programming, I do not recommend this TV. The ...
Pros: Vivid color, great HD / DVD picture quality, wide viewing angle with little glare Cons: Did not start up initially, menu is too basic, vertical bands
Honestly I bought this set over a similar (but smaller) Sony since it was slight larger and perfectly fit into our cabinet (I later did more and more research on HDTV's). With it came some issues: It did not start up when we initially brought it home. ...
Pros: Style, displayed image, picture modes. One year later (02/20/05) still running great.
Cons: The speakers. Bought an inexpensive surround sound system, so it's near perfect (02/20/05)
I was just looking for a flat-screen set, 28 -32 in, but in no time was I sold on a HDTV. After some research on the Web, etc, I rejected the large, flashy Rear Projection Televisions, which in my opinion are only adequate for "Sports Bars" and the ...
Pros: Excellent color, flat widescreen, AV mode options, plenty of inputs. Cons: Remote, no DVI, customer service not knowledgeable.
I bought this TV on clearance at Sears for $699.00. I have been looking for a 16 X 9 TV for some time, but I could not justify paying $1400.00 for a TV. The 30-inch TVs were just too small. Things I like about this TV: I dont watch many ...
Pros: Price, HD and DVD picture Cons: Basic Remote, No DVI or PnP
This is my second HD set and was bought as a replacement for a 36" analog. The HD picture is excellent. Currently have 10 HD channels and the TV displays them in their full 1080i glory. DVD is excellent also. Another high point was the price. $1249 at Sam's club. I also purchased the matching stand online for $187.00 Looks great.
The low point was the remote. Very basic and hardly a "universal remote". It won't control my Motorola 6204 HD cable box, and can't work most DVD players or audio systems. There is no DVI input or picture in picture.
Since I bought this primarily for HD and DVD viewing I will give it an excellent rating, especially considering the price. You couldn't find a Direct View 34" HD TV for less than $2,000.00 a year ago. If you are looking for a lot of features then I suggest another TV.
Pros: Great picture quality if you have the right source;
Colors are very crisp;
Widescreen; Cons: Too much overscan;
Jailbars;
Sound;
Heavy;
This set has very good HD picture quality, the colors are crisp and full. Not bad on a non-HD content either, but avoid those ultra-compressed satellite signals like DishNetwork's certain channels, they looked awful. Progressive-scan DVD and HD cable signals look great on this TV. There are a couple of downsides though...you have to get into the service menu with a special combination to be able to change advanced settings and even with those the TV has quite a bit of overscan (i.e. the left and right edges of the picture falls out of the tube's visible range). This is probably common in this price-range though. Also on certain sets you can see the so-called "jailbars" which are faint bar-like vertical lines in the background..you can only see them under certain conditions (especially if you set brightness too high)..it used to bother me, but now I don't look at it and barely even notice it.
The TV has 2 sets of component inputs which are suitable for most users (DVD-player / cable-box).
Here's an oxymoron - HDTV with an awful picture. This is one to avoid. If you are thinking of getting an HD set, don't get this one.
Picture is terrible, glare on the screen is unmanageable, and the menu system is too elementary. There are almost no adjustments and this set could really use them.
