Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: 60PP9401: HUGE SCREEN + HDTV + LOW PRICE (relatively speaking) = GREAT DEAL
Cons: bright grey bars in some formats; needed to tweek with multiple settings for clear pic
Summary: First, let me say that I got the bigger version of this TV: 60PP9401. In all respects, it's the same TV with a bigger screen.
Anyway, the first thing I want to comment is that the TV is great (after some slight tweeking)! Definitely a ... read more

Pros: Lots a hookups, nice when workings.
Cons: Poor performance on the parts used.
Summary: I bought this in 2002 and it has been repaired 3 times now. twice by me and once by a $350 tech. Same problem over and over. The STK392-110 IC burnes up and has convergence issues. All the colors roll and its like a 3D movie. I have been trying to get a ... read more

Pros: It worked long enough for the warranty to expire
Cons: Once warranty expires get your check book ready
Summary: I willing to bet that every 55pp9401 that rolled off the assemble line will have the same convergence problem. First the IC's will blow then it's downhill from there. The only thing it will be good for is taking up ... read more

Pros: Great picture
Cons: Convergence chips will most likely go out again.
Summary: My Phillips 55pp9401 was manufactured in 02/2002. My wife purchased the TV for me for fathers dad in 2003. On 3/25/07 the convergence went out on my unit. The first tech told me he thought it was the convergence chips ($400) but it might also be ... read more

Pros: Was good for the first year, good image quality.
Cons: Many... It will break 99.99% FOR SURE.
Summary: I have this TV ($2500) and in 4 Years I had to repair it 3 times, now it is broken again with a different issue (I bought a new TV, no Philips anymore of course), This TV has problems in the design, and the convergence will break in less than 3 years for ... read more

Pros: Great picture lots of input for components and games.
Cons: It will probably need repairs around the 4 year mark.
Summary: The TV is great but at 3 years and 10 months the convergence circuit went out. This is what keeps the three color tubes aligned. I looked on the internet and found this is a common problem with this model and would have cost me $400 to fix it, and I ... read more
