Pros: It's small, rugged, and you can hardly tell it's there when exercising Cons: Software issues on driver install, format necessary on occasion, USB 1.1 is slow
Thankfully I'm computer savvy, otherwise I would not be listening to mp3's during my morning run. ...

Cool Gadget
by honnybrown ,Jul 30 '05
Pros: Sturdy, durable unit. Great customer service. Cons: No shuffle
I'm a very active person, and wanted a portable, great sounding MP3 player that could take some abuse. Phillips/Nike answered my needs.
During the first month, it crashed beyond repair. I sent it back to Phillips, and it was replaced within a week.
I use it for jogging, hiking, lifting or on an airplane. The magnet is a pain, though I can see the logic behind it (it prevents the wires from moving around).
After a year and a month, the LCD or LED (I don't know which) on the screen got damaged. It's no longer under warranty. No biggie, I just can't see how much battery life I have.
I still use it constantly.
Almost 2 years now. After a recent hike, I left it in the car. The magnet pulled apart the headphones.
Despite the problems I had with the unit, it's a great gadget and I would recommend it, highly.

Great Product
by grundle ,Jun 18 '04
Pros: Armband, Sound, Simplicity, Build, Flashable Firmware, Remote with Magnets Cons: Battery Life, Same software drivers needed for sharing on other computers, headphones
Summary: I bought this product at FYE for 99.99$. It has a nice sound, is light, feels sturdy, and is easy to use. It comes complete with rechargeable AAA battery and charger, headphones with optional remote and magnets to clamp it on to your clothes, USB cable, Music Match software and drivers, and an armband. After you install the drivers, you just plug the unit into the USB cable, and voila, a new removable drive appears (Windows XP) under My Computer. You just drag and drop songs into it, and the transfer rate is pretty fast (~2 min for 128mb of music).

Don't Buy this Product!
by salgiardina ,Jan 23 '05
Pros: NONE Cons: BAD ENGINEERING, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
As an avid mountainbiker I needed an MP3 player which can take some abuse. The Nike Philips APPEARED to answer my call for decent audio while taking an occasional crash, not the case as you will see later.
First, I liked the design...lightweight...round ( comfortable )...equalizer...
Now lets talk about engineering....after 11 battery changes..the little plastic locking tab on the back of battery cover snapped off. Now the battery, motherboard, and and usb connector is exposed...so much for watertight intergrety...this negates the reason for buying this product in the first place.
Now lets talk about customer service... I properly registered my product....called customer service..they wanted me to buy an extra battery cover for ten dollars...my unit is still under warranty. I explained to the customer service representative that the plastic tab snapping off was an engineering malfunction....and refused to give me a new battery cover free of charge. So much for standing behind your product...every time I called customer service, the call was routed to Jamaica or the Philippines. With this not so freindly customer service I will NEVER BUY A PRODUCT FROM NIKE, NOR PHILIPS EVER AGAIN!
