Philips DVD634 DVD Player

Pros: Good looking, plays all kinds of formats
Cons: Noisy and unreliable....oh so unreliable.

Looks great, plays all kinds of formats and should be good value for money. BUT.....purchased this machine for occasional use in bedroom (perhaps once a week). In 5 months, this machine has failed twice. Both times it will not recognise ANY disc put into it. The first time round, a new Laser was fitted (requiring the machine to be sent back to Philips) and currently the machine is back with Philips again, it appears for yet another Laser. Unless you are the kind of person that likes hassle, or unless you want to get to know your local repair man very well, I suggest you avoid this DVD like the plague. Dont know about other Philips DVD's , but for sure, I wont buy anything Philips ever again. As for you, well the decision must be yours.
