Pros: Low price, excellent recording quality in Fine and SP modes, easy to use Cons: Can only use DVD-R and DVD-RW, but not DVD+R/RW or DVD-RAM (not a big deal)
The prices of DVD recorders are getting lower every day and seem to have approached what you would have to pay for a good VCR when VCR was the only way to record TV shows. I remember paying $340 for my Panasonic SD11 VCR... Now, for the same ...

We have all had our share of vcr's by now. I remember being a child watching tv and then being amazed that you could acutally record a tv show, and then play it back. Then years later here we are in dvd land, and dvd recorders. If anyone has owned and ...
Pros: High quality, wide range of inputs, easy to use Cons: Would rather be asked are you sure rather than being prevented from backing up VHS

Pros: Excellent DVD-R/RW writing/menu creation, burned 300 DVD's with it. Cons: The VWR-1378 power board failed Sept 2008. May not be Pioneer's fault.
I have had two of these Pioneer DVR-320s models for many years, and one of them crapped out. Looking inside, there is a 10.5 x 3" circuit board that has 4 round capacitors that have bulging and leaking tops. Unfortunately it is out of warranty, but luckily I found the complete replacement board with all components here: http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=VWR1378 $67 including shipping.
It is relatively easy to disconnect the 3 connector plugs/ribbon, and insert new board (it comes with all parts attached to original board)....it works perfectly again.
To me it is worth going through the trouble & $67 expense, as this DVR has nice, easy to use functions, DVD-R/RW menu creation, and overall performance. I think that should be enough of a recommendation for this model, even though I doubt you can buy these new anymore.
