Pros: Nice, room-filling sound. Quality highs and mids. Nice floor pair at relatively low cost. Cons: Bass not overwhelming, but solid. Requires a sub if strong bass is a must.

Great For The Price

Pros: Highs and mids Cons: Lows and no binding posts
Well, as I was putting together an inexpensive home theater system, I turned to eBay. After browsing for a while I found these from Pioneers eBay store/account. I won the auction, paying $90 for the pair (plus $15 shipping). When they were delivered, I took them out of the huge box, which contained both speakers, and hooked them up to my newly purchased receiver-also off eBay. It is a Harmon Kardon AVR 5, not the most expensive, but it does what I need it to do. The SH453 are my front speakers, while I'm using SH253 (ebay again) for the front. The center channel is up to an older Polk model, and I don't have a sub yet (but am looking for a nice, used Velodyne).
Mid's and highs are nice and crisp, as are the lower frequencies, to a point. No, these will not shake things off the wall, and will need to be used with a sub for powerful bass, but they do produce a full sound. The cabinets are alright, made out of a black MDF (not exactly high quality wood-but you get what you pay for).
