Pros: easy to put on, baby enjoys it Cons: Strap can cut into neck, not the best if you are short or busty
I've tried a few carriers over the years, with mixed results. Slings, wraps, front carriers - all of them. Have I found a perfect solution in any of them? Sadly, no. But they've each served a purpose. Years ago, with my son he and I both loved the sling ...
Pros: Quite comfy. Cleans up fairly easily. Easy to put on. Cons: Spendy! Good for your back at the expense of baby's?
I purchased my hip hammock this past November, while Christmas shopping at the mall. There is something about trudging around all day in uncomfortable shoes, lugging around tons of heavy shopping bags full of stuff that isn’t even for you, that ...
Pros: Can see baby, comfortable, one arm totally free, baby gets to interact, easy to use. Cons: You're got one fully mobile arm and the other is like a vestigial T-Rex arm.
I own four baby carriers--one front only carrier (t

Baby Carrier), one body sling (the Maya Wrap), and this one. I've used all ...
Pros: Most of baby's weight is on your hip so easier on shoulders/back. Very cute. Cons: Maybe the price......but it *is* worth it!
Where do I begin?? OK.....toss out your Snugli carrier. Maybe even your Maya Wrap Sling and Over The Shoulder Baby Holder (I have reviews on those two slings too). If your child is at least 14 pounds and can straddle your side (at least two months ...
Pros: It's affordable, useful, comfortable and easy...not to mention machine washable! Cons: Can be a little tricky at first.
Whew. I have finally found the piece of "baby equipment" that will actually allow me to go shopping while my 7 month old daughter is with me! And at $40...it's well worth the money I spent. This Hip Hammock is perfect for me because I can keep ...
Pros: Comfortable, easy on back and shoulders, fits wide variety of sizes Cons: Only 1 free hand, straps dangle
The Playtex Hip Hammock is a baby/child carrier that allows you to carry your baby on your hip, rather than on your front. It's a very comfortable and natural position to carry baby in and it allows you to have your hands free. It can be used when baby ...
Pros: Easy to use for both mom and dad, comfortable for baby. Cons: None
I recently purchased this product after seeing a couple of mothers in my moms' group use it for their babies. What a great product! I took it right out of the box in the store and used it while I shopped for other things. There are 2 steps to ...
Pros: Comfortable, baby feels calm and secure, folds compactly, easy to use, durable, affordable
Cons: padding somewhat warm, sleeping baby falls towards strap - needs cloth to cushion
The first few times I put my son (6 1/2 months, ~16.5 lbs) in the Hip Hammock he fell asleep within 15 minutes. Now that he is able to hip-sit, I needed something to help me hold him so that I could carry him longer and also have my hands somewhat free. ...
Pros: Attractive looking. Cons: Shoulder strap digs horribly into your neck and shoulder.
I love baby products! I tend to buy all the new gadgets and try them. When this Playtex Hip Hammock came out I was very excited. I had a two year old and an chubby 8 month old who loved being held. I bought this hip hammock at Wal-mart for $39.99 ...
Pros: Very portable. Much easier to use than other front carriers. Baby is secure. Cons: The straps are very long for petite moms. It pulls on your shoulder a bit.
I cannot recommend the Playtex Hip Hammock enough! I bought this product for a recent trip and it was a lifesaver going through 3 airports with just my baby and me. I didn't have to worry about a stroller in a crowded airport and my hands were free to ...
Pros: My daughter loved it! Allows you to cuddle and comfort, hands free! Cons: Neck strap requires frequent adjustments. Getting sleepy baby out is a little difficult.
My daughter loved it! She fell asleep in it our second time trying it out. I could finish dinner, va ...
Pros: + Perfect for larger babies
+ Affordable
+ Durable Cons: - No major complaints!
After using my Bjorn carrier forever, my back finally staged a walk-out and I had to give up carrying my 20+lb daughter around. I saw a woman at the park carrying her son in the Hip Hammock and immediately marched myself to Craigslist and found one of my ...
Pros: Comfortable for mom and baby, easy to use, trendy design, compact, relatively inexpensive Cons: Dangling straps
My husband likes to go out a lot and stay out for hours. This makes carrying a carseat inconvenient and heavy with a 17 pound baby in it and who isn't content in his stroller. I was really excited about this product when I had found it online. We have ...
Best thing I ever bought! by littledebs ,Mar 08 '05
Pros: well padded, comfy for baby & mom, easy to get on. Cons: Dangly straps for short moms; padding may be too warm in the summer.
Baby Bjorns are find for the newborn or young baby. As they grow and need less snugling, this item is great!
Once I had the straps adjusted to me, I found it very easy to put on unlike the Bjorn or the Snugli. Just one snap at the waist and an adjusting buckle on the front. I was able to hold baby with one arm, bring the hammock behind her and put the strap over my head with the other arm. I am 5' 0" and have a 10 month old who is still very comfortable being carried in it. It is more comfortable to wear than the usual carriers and I can carry baby for longer stretches of time. It also rolls up into a parcel when not used.
It is well padded and comfortable enough that my baby still falls asleep in it. While awake she can look all around. I also have both hands free when I need them.
I also have a 30lb toddler who has been in it. It was certainly more difficult but it is doable and a lot easier than carrying him without it!
Easier to just carry my son by wavelvr ,Dec 27 '04
Pros: Able to be worn on left or right side; folds compactly. Cons: Does not support 25lbs.+ without frequent readjustments; lots of dangling straps.
My son is 8-months-old, 25lbs., and 30" tall. I am 5'4", 150lbs. My son is not walking yet and does not like to ride in most shopping cart seats. I purchased this product because I carried him frequently when younger and now that he's much heavier and larger in size, I thought this would be a great next step. The carrier is fairly easy to put on if your child will sit still on your hip for about a minute. You also have to line up the flap that goes between their legs just right, otherwise, they are in lopsided and can fall out through the side. There is quite a bit of padding for the strap that goes around your neck, but after carrying my son for about 20 minutes, I have a sore neck and lower back. It does help to frequently shift his position in the hammock by "hoisting" him up towards my shoulder and again tightening the strap, but because of his weight, he eventually slips again. Overall, great idea, but Playtex should have added an additional back strap to more evenly distribute the weight.
