Pros: Inexpensive, Portable, and Plenty o' Storage. Cons: A little bulky, but very little else
Just a short review:
The Archos 15 recorder is top notch for a low price. Granted, there are better players out there, in regards to style and smaller size, but if you get this bad boy with rebates, it doesn't make sense to shell out 100-300...
Pros: Drag and drop to unit, Navigation is fast and easy. Good sound. Plenty of volume Cons: Cost, Bit Heavy, Songs arrange in alphabetical order on unit
I have tried a number of these hard drive MP3 Players, and for me, this is the best. (The Treos by E.Digital is cheaper and has different play options, but can't find in a store, and feels flimsy like it won't hold up). The Archos is solid. When...
Pros: Upgradeable firmware, Great Sound, Durable, total pitch control, Best Playlist capabilities, 10 1/2Hr Battery life Cons: A little on the large side
I have owned 2 of these units I outgrew my 6 Gb Player and opted for the 20 Gb recorder which has endured commuting for over 2 1/2 years without any glitches. But I would like to spread the word about this units' ultimate upgradeability. There is a ...
Pros: Massive hard drive with easy navigation. Cons: limited viewing screen and some odd quirks that cause it to lock up
I purchased an archos studio 10 and it was stolen so I decided to go back for something bigger and better with the 15 recorder. The upgrade has made all of difference. I love my new mp3 player. It works well for capturing live audio with its high...
Pros: storage size, ease of menu use, ease of drag-and-drop Cons: weight, lack of protection from drops, no belt clip on soft case, headphones are horrible
I was tired of using the MP3 players with 32 and 64 megs of storage, listening to the same songs over and over when I was working out. Finally I gave in and bought the Archos so that I wouldn't have to load and take off songs over and over.
I was...
Pros: Long battery life, easy navigation, CHEAP, uses winamp *.m3u playlist files Cons: Big, no sports with it, limited display, problems with playlists and shuffle
I was looking for an mp3 player, preferably a big one to accommodate my somewhat large mp3 collection (IE a 128megabyte player was NOT gonna cut it). And I found the Archos Jukebox Recorder 15gig etc. Physical: 3/5 Okay, it's not as streamlined as ...
Pros: excellent MP3 playback, large storage, easy drag and drop file organizing. Cons: Hard Drive was toast on the 3rd week of use(keep your receipt handy).
I received the Archos Jukebox Recorder 15 as a gift for my birthday.
What I loved about the Archos jukebox:
I'm an MP3 enthusiast, I have used the LAME encoder at -r3mix and -alt preset standard VBR settings on all my CD rips....
In the 4 months I have owned it, it takes all the abuse of bouncing around in the big rig truck I drive. I have 590 MP3 files in 3 different playlist which is about a 10th of it's total capicity. I am never going to be able to fill this up. One of the few MP3 players to have a DC power outlet and an optional car kit. 1 word describes this....... WOW!
Archos MiniJuke Box 15 GB a good deal by j0enoonan ,Oct 16 '03
Pros: Good music storage loud musicmatch Cons: Skips when running
This MP3 player is a great buy for a person who cannot afford a ipod. The sound is very good with lots of options. It is a bit difficult to figure out were your music is because it is in alphabetical order. When I first got my Archos MiniJuke Box 15 I went down to my computer and transferred my 800 songs. This took all night it was tuff and frustrating it was very slow. But my computer is very messed up so it might have been that. This thing comes with music match. I noticed when I run with it some times it skips witch made me mad because I wanted to run with it. The recorder is not the greatest but I dint buy it for the Recorder. If you can afford an ipod I suggest that.
This thing is great. I... by coach_dt3001 ,Feb 08 '03
This thing is great. I do a lot of travelling for school sports, and instead of carrying around a select number of CD's in a case with my "anti-skip" discman in a backpack, I have a little gray box with all of that stuff rolled in one. It sounds great with decent headphones (depending on the sound of the mp3 itself). And, of course, there is a ton of space for music or any other files you may have. I definitely recommend one if you can scrape up the money, it's worth it. Everybody else on my team wants one now.
This product pretty much stepped into the Weibull (Bathtub) curve and slipped and fell in its ass (in terms of performance)right from the get-go!!!
i was pretty skeptical of this product to begin with, as many reviews noted the lack of customer tech support. however, during the 4 days my unit actually did function, i was beginning to enjoy it.
i also was glad that my record collection was transferring to my computer well - and i even recorded some old tracks from cassette tape!! sometimes a high frequency click or squeal proceeded the tracks.
just as i was feeling good about my investment, the unit decided not to regain consciousness (ie it would not start - just stayed on the " operating system 1.28" readout and then dies (shuts off)).
also, there was this strange smell from the unit - kinda like Windex. it got worse the longer it was left "on."
i'd definitely purchase additional warranty on this product, if given the option.
Horrible Product, with horrible customer service by yenduc ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: Cheaper then an IPod Cons: Doesnt work... ever...buy an IPod
I purchased this product quite a while back instead of an ipod, and what a mistake that was. As soon as the factory warantee expired the unit just completely stopped working. After 34 emails, I finally got A response from the customer service saying there was nothing they could do... So after about 3 months of letting it sit, i finally discovered that the OS had simply disappeared, so I reinstalled it and off we went....
3 Days Later... broken... again... reinstalled OS... again...
2 Months later... Broken, time number 3... reinstalled OS... again...
Today...(1/04/04) I reinstalled the OS again, so I could move some files back and forth between myhouse and my girlfriends, exactly 6 minutes 23 seconds into the transfer the whole unit made a nice little fuzzy noise. Its that nice warm fuzzy noise that drives us computer geeks crazy... Yepo the hard drive is now completely shot on it....
