Pros: Expansion slot to double memory, uses AAA battery, good sound. Cons: Earphones only OK. Can't reorganize tracks on unit. Crappy software.
I have had this for about a year and a half, using it to listen to music on the bus and subway during my commute. I have an additional 128 MB card to double the memory and use rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries. I listen to MP3 and WMA ripped from my own ...
Pros: Easy to use, Great record quality, 128Mb storage standard, classy cabinet Cons: The unit will not separate recordings into tracks
For many months, I have been trying to transfer my huge collection of reel to reel audio tapes to mp3/digital format. Using the line in and copying an analog signal to the hard drive, then converting the downloaded sound files to mp3 via "Lame," etc....
Pros: Batteries last a long time. Cons: Tiny fragile parts break; download software malfunctions
I purchased a RipFlash Plus 256 for field recordings, and after a weeks trial, I have encountered serious flaws. I highly recommend that anyone who is concerned about the safety of their field recordings think very seriously before purchasing one of ...
Pros: Easy to use, holds over 8 hours at 30kbps Cons: Tinny speaker, OK in a pinch, output fine through adapter
The songs are separated on CD, not on tapes
I love it, it records 8 hours at 30kbps (sampling rate kilabytes per second) and sounds great when outputted to adapter to car radio. At 15kbps it records / plays over 17 hours of stuff....
Pros: While it functioned, it was good. Cons: Different headphones = better sound; malfunctioned near end of warranty; customer service; extra $10.
I had received the RipFlash Plus as a b-day gift almost exactly 1 year (the warranty period) to the day that it no longer functioned. When I initially got it, it was difficult to download music and I eventually found that by plugging it into the USB ...
Pros: Big screen, Bright LED, Recorder, Easy to use. Cons: A little expensive
This stylish, MP3 player is awesome! Its thin design is easy to carry and very easy to operate. It has a large LED screen and you can very easily read it in the dark. It runs for a LONG time on 2, AAA batteries. It holds about 40 songs in it's memory, however, you can insert memory cards. The player came with a protective sleeve which has held up very well, and a carry cord. This player is VERY durable. I have dropped it several times in the 5 months I've had it and I never have had a problem. This also would be a great player for kids and teens because its so simple to use. The software included works very well and is very simple to use. Everything you need is included, including cord. It also has a built-in microphone, the player automatically stores the recorded files. If you unplug the headphones the music will start coming out of the speaker. Which is nice if you want someone to listen to a song. BUY THIS MP3 PLAYER. ITS THE BEST.
Pros: Easy to use interface - makes decent AM radio quality recordings Cons: Overall mediocre sound quality, little or no tech support
I have a RipFlash Plus that's 2 months out of warranty. Almost exactly a year after it was purchased, the unit refused to take downloads - in essence, it became a MP3 player that wouldn't play MP3.
Pogo's tech support consists of telling you to reinstalling the software. If that doesn't work, it must be your machine. The technician working on my problem had little or no understanding of Windows.
I purchased the unit to record AM radio talk shows - and it still usable for that purpose, but it simply won't play anything that wasn't recorded on it.
Pros: Ease of use, sound, recording ability, simple software Cons: Software lacks playlist reordering, no Media Player plugin as if 11/03
My 7 year old daughter was getting tired of listing to the Sesame Street and Disney songs that are the favorites of her younger siblings while traveling in the van. Instead of a CD player, I can control what "big kid" songs go on to the MP3 player. She can work it no problem. I bought regular headphones for it but the sound was good either way. It can record voice too which surprised her!
The software is simple but could use some enhancements; like playlist management. You need to copy the WMA/MP3 files to it in the order you want them to play. There's no reorganizing after the fact. Also, PoGo has yet to release a Media Player 9 plug-in so I can copy songs to the player directly from MP9 rather than opening up the MP3 Manager software. This is particularly an issue with licensed songs from the new Napster.
Poorly constructed, rude tech support by beccaw77 ,Aug 13 '04
Pros: Was the least expensive option I could find to create mp3s of live music Cons: difficult to program, case is not durable at all, tech support is horrible
I received this product as a Christmas gift. Less than 6 months later, the case began to crumble. The device was never dropped or abused in any way - quite frankly it was only used 2 or 3 times to record attached via line in to a sound board. I had been really impressed with the product until having to deal with Pogo Tech support regarding replacing the item. I was basically told I was a liar and the damage would only occur if the device was abused. I was talked down to, demeaned and they refused to budge on a $15 repair charge. I do not recommend purchasing a product from Pogo unless you consider it a disposable product, not an investment.
