It's A Diamond, (except for the Design)

by kissmybrain , Feb 03 '03
Pros: Small, compact, and very functional.
Cons: Battery door is a bad design
I got this MP3 player for free when I upgraded to Windows XP, so I admit that I did not have much of an emotional investment to the product.

Once I saw how easy it is to hook the MP3 player to Windows XP, and simply drag and drop files back...

10 songs just isn't enough...

by qc832 , Nov 01 '02
Pros: no skipping, pocket sized, nice headphones
Cons: minimal memory, limited on memory upgrade
Unless you buy a memory card (and the max size card is 64 megs is believe) you're stuck with 10 songs, unless you compromise the quality of the music your rip.

It does have excellent RIO quality sound and the cable used is kinday flimsy...

Could have been a good value

by ze_shark , Jul 21 '02
Pros: Rio One w/ 128Mb extension a good value
Cons: Build quality is near crap
I received a Rio PMP300 (parallel port) as a present back in 1999, and just bought a Rio One (USB) in April 2002 as a birthday gift. Both are the same design, SonicBlue just ugpraded the interface to make it more practical.

With the cheap cost...

Good budget mp3 player

by athxu , May 27 '02
Pros: Inexpensive. Easy to use
Cons: Cheap plastic parts. Lack features
If you want an mp3 player for cheap these days, this one is an excellent choice. You can probably find one on ebay for $50 or less.

The sound quality is okay. You might want to get your own headphones, as the ones they give you are pretty...

The PMP300 was a great idea, but had its flaws.

by f1b3r0ptix , Mar 02 '02
Pros: Great idea, and compact design!
Cons: Flawed Design, however.
I was excited when I first got my Rio PMP300 around when it first came out, and was pleased with the product. I think that MP3 music users need to know the basics about MP3 technology and music to get the most out of the onboard 32MB of flash memory. The...

An alright experience

by wendie7 , Jan 05 '02
Pros: small, no skipping, can repeat just PART of a song
Cons: easily breaks, can't hold many songs
After hunting high and low for a good deal on an MP3 player, I finally settled on the Rio 300. It seemed like a good buy for it's money, with many features and 32 MB of storage. Unfortunately, it broke less than 24 hours after I bought it. I was working...

Good for 1999, but not anymore...

by skamouse , Dec 25 '01
Pros: Compact, Easy to use, Inexpensive, Decent sound, 1 Battery Operation
Cons: Sub-Average Headphones, Few EQ Options, Inconvenient Hookup, Flimsy Battery Case Lid
Believe me, I was one of the first to run out and buy a RIO PMP 300 when it came out. It gave me many, many hours of enjoyment commuting every day for over a year. But technology advanced, and now it is no longer needed, a museum piece if you will......

by nickcdavis , Dec 14 '01
Pros: External memory slot, tiny, easy to figure out.
Cons: Only 32mb internal memory, cheap case design, reformats external memory.
When I first got this, I was tickled. AN MP3 PLAYER! Listen to music absolutely ANYWHERE without it skipping! But then I started noticing one flaw after another...

Music on the go!

by motleycrue , Sep 10 '01
Pros: Never skips, small and light, highly customizable, long battery life, upgradable
Cons: flimsy battery slot, not much memory, buttons pushed accidentally, not loud enough at times
Perhaps you're wondering if MP3 is right for you. If you're sick of your CD player skipping all the time while you walk or it's tiring to download and burn CD's, then maybe you should invest in a Rio PMP300 MP3 player. All you have to do is plug it...

I know these first hand

by wickedrulez , Aug 09 '01
Pros: there's a pro to this??????
Cons: I couldnt begin
The Rio 300 is a total waste of money. I should know this more than anyone, cause I work for Diamond doing the support for these. In theory it is a good product, but being the first model they produced has its faults. It can't keep a solid connection...

by quanwuan , Jul 03 '01
Pros: Small,Lightweight,no skipping, with the right earphones its a great player.
Cons: Really not enough memory but you can buy a cheap 16mb upgrade at diamonds website.
This is the Rio pmp300. This mp3 player was the one that started the portable mp3 revolution even though it wasn't the first. The Rio is made by dimond multimedia and its a portable mp3 player with 32mb of flash memory. I got this mp3 player for 55.00...

by darkknightlh , Jun 27 '01
Pros: Small, Light, Low Battery Usage
Cons: No Usb Connection, No Bass or Treble Controls, Flimsy Battery Cover
I decided to get this mp3 player after hearing so much about it. I placed my order and received it a few days later. I was impressed initially with the sound quality and the size of the player. But one thing I didn't like was the parallel port...

Not hifi but perfectly acceptable

by mosquitoguy , Jun 24 '01
Pros: Lightweight, relatively small
Cons: Can't resume, software runs on win95/98 only
I got this for the purpose of listening to audio books, not playing music. For my purposes, the player is perfect except that it can't resume. If I have a 30 minute mp3 file, everytime I stop it I have to start from the beginning. The player can...

The future of music

by rollinggrenade , Jun 15 '01
Pros: Lightweight, convenient, durable, long lasting power supply.
Cons: Limited Memory
I picked up a Rio 300 for about $60 due to a couple $50 rebates a year or two ago. At that price - it's a good deal.

Functionality is great - it is easy to use and the buttons are easy to reach.

There are four graphic equalizer...
