Pros: Fast data transfers; 128MB memory; voice recorder Cons: Buggy transfer software; no WMA support; not expandable
Overall, this is a nice MP3 player which gets the job done for me (I.E. entertaining me for two hours while I work out). It has 128MB of flash memory, which holds around 30 of my MP3 files (this depends on the bit rate, of course). One of the cons I...

Very difficult to transfer music to
by lan8iv ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: Small, sounds great, good amount of play time on one battery Cons: Downloading music to the device
I rarely change the music on this device. It is so difficult, that I give up in frustration after an hour of trying to get one song onto it, and that's after I end up deleting some of the music on it by mistake. There seems to be no support to explain how to get music onto the device. This device is not good for a beginner because of the difficulty transferring music to the device. Based on that alone, I would not recommend this product to a beginner.

Good Size -Terrible software
by kjunk ,Apr 11 '05
Pros: Size Cons: SOFTWARE
The software makes it hard to upload songs. If you use musicmatch and want to use it to upload your playlists you are out of luck. The size is great. I have never worn anything on my belt, but this fits great over the side of my shorts. The head phones stink, I had to get others. The controls are easy to use, easy to skip ahead or change the volume. (since it does not hold a ton of songs this is not a major factor). Battery life is good, I think they say 5 hours and it seems to be at least that. This was a gift and if I was going to buy and MP3 player it would not be this one. The software is a major issue, no fm, no support from Samsung,

by heatmoney ,Sep 24 '04
Pros: Small size, easy to use. Cons: Anti Piracy features make it unable to upload mp3 or wav files
For the price, this MP3 Player is a great deal. It has a lot of useful features. It's also very compact and easy to use. Great for jogging.

Caution: Depends on what you want it for.
by duranf01 ,Oct 19 '03
Pros: Great sound, small and lightweight. Cons: Not durable and no support from Samsung
Not for use if you workout with it. Sweat seems to destroy the spring loaded switch within about 5 months. I bought 2 and they both had the same problem. Samsung will not answer the phone for support. The software upgrade available did not work. Samsung provided no support.

Little Player, Huge performance
by mtbchamp ,Sep 21 '03
Pros: SMALL SIZE! Low weight, sound, durability, LCD screen showing song title, probably waterproof. Cons: Loading software, hard to change songs accurately while on the move, loves to use batteries.
I workout a lot and I use my Samsung YP30-sh almost everyday.
I also sweat A LOT and I have never had any problems with the mp3 player. I have had many mp3 players before and just for sheer size and weight, the yp30-sh is the best.
The sound is extremely good, it gets LOUD. I can't even feel it when I am on the tread mill, stair climber, or lifting. I have dropped it on countless occasions and yet not a scratch on it. Although many people would rather see a built-in belt clip I prefer the durable plastic holder with for the belt clip
with such a small size sacrifices must be made. There is one button to control stop, play, back and forward. Kind of tricky changing songs when you are five miles deep into a run and your concentration is gone. Also some of the additional features that I dont use require the sliding down of a panel and some serious button pushing.
The software that comes with the Samsung is easy but VERY inefficient and buggy, sometimes songs wont transfer. It does NOT show up in windows explorer as a USB drive.

I use mine for running...
by peterle_dt3000 ,Sep 09 '02
I use mine for running and cycling and it works pretty good. With it's .08lb, it's very comfortable to wear so you won't even feel it.
To improve the rigidity, the plastic-parts could be made out of aluminium.
128 MB is more than enough for up to three hours of music. The battery life is much more than the tested 5 hours.

Very good sound quality. Make sure you buy rechargeable batteries. Reasonable price for amount of MB's on this machine. Also, fairly rugged. I tried the NIKE MP3 player first and the armband attachment broke the first day.

I love this little thing!...
by jenny_dt3001 ,Feb 13 '03
I love this little thing! It's small and comfertable. Having 3 hours of music is great too! Not to mention it comes with every possible attachment that you can think of so that you can wear it anywear: on your pants, around your arm, hanginig around your neck, ANYWHERE! It's definately worth the money. It's also got great sound with volume that actually works! It's much better than my roommates. His problem is that the volume doesn't go up high enough.
