Pros: plays mp3-CDs, CD-RW compatible, car kit included Cons: fifteen words is not enough room to list all the things wrong with this player.
I will freely admit that I'm a sucker for electronic toys. More specifically, I love computer peripherals. After I received a new Dell OptiPlex desktop computer for graduation, moved to campus, and started downloading music like crazy...it was time for an ...

Pros: easy-to-use. Cons: battery life, CD can become dislodged and become scratched!
(Update -- 9 months later, added to bottom) RCA isn't Sony. For what it's worth, in my book, Sony produces some very excellent quality products. But, when I saw that this RCA mp3 player was $40 cheaper than the Sony one (translating into a 30% cheape ...

Pros: No skips, sounds great, great price Cons: what cons?
I bought the RCA RP2450 at Walmart for $69. As soon as I got home, I burned a cd-rw with about 12 songs on it. It took about 15 seconds to read it and started playing. The sound is great. I had two problems: 1) it would not play a song I had at 256kb...

I was pleasantly surprised with...

I was pleasantly surprised with this unit. Didn't have a lot to spend. For the money, it is a great value. Excellent sound quality. I'm using WMA files at 128/kbs. The headphones may not be high-end but they do a great job. No problems with encoded files. Navigation is easy and random mode plays all files. Bass boost is ok and the EQ is average. I have it set to Boost of II and EQ on pop and get a really clean sound. Volume is excellent. Takes less than 15 seconds to load files after inserting a new CD. With a 700MB CD I calculated that I can store 16 audio CDs. And with CDs costing less than 25 cents a piece it is a whole lot cheaper than memory based players. If your looking for a great player on a budget, the RCA unit is very nice.

I've had some terrible experiences with RCA in the past, so I knew I was taking a risk. The playter seems to be working fine. Battery life is ok, but not great. Sound quality is fine for my ears. Menu navigation is fairly simple and the display is big enough, although it does not have a back light. The DSP EQ is useless - just 2 levels of bass bost, but it sounds fine w/out an EQ. All in all, a fine mp3 CD player for the price.

It goes crazy with mp3's....
by plugnickle_dt3000 ,Jan 05 '03
It goes crazy with mp3's. Plays files at times, other times it won't recognise the same file. Sometimes it will only play parts of files. I believe that I will return it for another model.

I bought this player because...
by sprinklerfrmhell_dt3000 ,Dec 11 '02
I bought this player because it was the cheapest mp3 cd player with a dc adaptor that i could find. The old saying you get what you pay for is true. Granted this is a great regular cd player, with a mediocre equalizer. The first mp3 cd i burned for it had 65 tracks on it. It only recognized 15. I popped the same cd into my friends rio and it recognized all 65. I burned another cd, this time with several differnt folders. The player moved songs from differnt folders and played them all out of order. When it finished playing one of the folders it continually came up with a file that didnt exist, and was displayed as a line of signs and blacked out marks. I am very dissapointed in this cd player. If works fine for regular audio cds, but as soon as you put an mp3 cd into the thing its reliability and preformance hits the fan
