Pros: tons of features, looks great, works great, priced right. Cons: no ac adapter
So, I was thinking about getting an mp3 player for a while now, and the main things that deterred me was price and the cost of storage, two things that are pretty important. All the really good players cost and arm and a leg, and the afforable ones...
Pros: Versatile, plays most music formats, looks great, nice display, price Cons: none
I want to give readers who are looking to buy a portable MP3/CD Player for the car a first hand account of my life with the iRiver iMP ChromeX. I have been using this product for about nine months and I ordered the car kit from iRiver. I believe you can...
Pros: Great product design, great price, "leader of the pack" Cons: Ac would be nice
I had been out of the MP3 CD player game for a couple of years after purchasing an iPod. When that died I decided to go back to a CD based system and was looking to pick up where I left off - with RioVolt CD / MP3 player. To my surprise I had to learn ...
Pros: Super sound
Terrific Looks
Affordable Price with great quality Cons: Couldn't find any!
Great sound quality, the affordable price and the variety of supported audio formats make this a standout unit. The Chrome-X is capable of playing MP3, M3U Winamp playlists, WMA and ASF audio, as well as CD, CD-R and CD-RW. Antishock protection for...
Pros: Plays MP3, WMA and ASF encoded CD-R/RW, and of course conventional cds. Cons: Short Anti-skip for conventional Audio CDs (only 40 sec), bulky design, and weak battery cover.
Personal Experience
This CD player is very well done, IRiver has done a very good job building this CD player. The features are quite extended, similar to their Slim-X series, but way more affordable. Now that I've used it for a more...
Cheaper CD based mp3 players are out there, but I paid the extra 25 bucks for this feature alone. Worth it. I have had no complaints. I like the inline remote, in the car I fasten this to the shoulder harness when I use the headphones, and just had to ...

Pros: Really slick, never fails, battery lasts at least 10 hours Cons: A little bit bulky, some accessories are not available
When a friend of mine bought a Rio CD-mp3 player I was decided to get one for me. So I decided to search the web for it, and found out it was above my available budget. At that point I was so determined I kept searching for something that was somewhat similar to his. This was when I found Iriver. This was 3 years ago.
At first i was a little scared because i didn't know anything about this brand. But well, i didn't have anything to lose (except my money) and i had to buy it. It was a great choice. The iMP-150 is great! Maybe a little big but not bigger than the Rio. Reads all the CDs I use and plays really well.
The only con I find is that I just destroyed the remote controller (that's why I ended up here) and i haven't been able to find a replacement. The accessories in the Iriver page are intended for the more expensive players.
Good Player, but mine broke by mikeprice ,Mar 02 '04
Pros: Big Display, Fast Load Time, MP3, Remote Cons: Buttons can get confusing, Battery Life a little short
I really liked this CD/MP3 player. I used it at school a lot. I found it had an easy to read screen and it played all of my favorite songs. Pretty much everything about this is perfect. The only thing I didn't like much was that when you open the player, it automatically turns off. The load time is pretty fast on MP3. It takes only a bit longer for CD.
Anything you dreamed about for less than $100 by varnav ,Sep 16 '03
Pros: Tons of features and supported formats Cons: Possible problems with CD-RW and VBR
I was looking for inexpensive CD/MP3 player, and decided to buy this one because of:
- upgradeable firmware
- graphical and relatively large LCD display with backlight
- support of WMA, VBR MP3, CD-RW and multisession
- powerful menu
- support of russian language in tags
And iRiver players were the only that had all that. Higher models of IRiver's iMP line aren't much better than this one.
Pros: Good remote, Long play time, good battery life, good navigation, no skips Cons: Minor anoyance, remote paradigm is backward occasionaly turn unit up instead of down.
Shopped around for a CD player that supported MP3s. Didnt want to spend a ton, but wanted to be able to navigate the CD easily. Others kept telling me the only way to go was with an IPOD or a memory based MP3 player. THEY ARE WRONG! The Chromex is great, cant recommend it enough. Have used it for at least an hour a day for the last three months, without a single hiccup. Upgraded the firmware via the net, and got some more interesting features like 140 second Anti-skip on MP3s. Have yet to hear the unit skip at all, have taken it jogging, offroad truck ridding, and sailing on a rough day, it just keeps playing the music. Easy to convert my CDs to MP3 using any number of tools, and reloading 8-10 hours of music is as easy as dropping in a different MP3 cd. My advice, dont waste your money on one of the Memory based or hard drive based MP3 players, when this one works as well as it does.

I bought this (the chrome-x 150) from amazon.com for $***. The moment i got this product i was in love. I have had around 10 cd players in the past and i only like a few of them enough to keep for a long time. I will keep this cd-player till it breaks. The LCD backlight is very cool. It is very easy to read. I also love the skip protection on the imp-150. Great for regular cd's and more than you will ever need for mp3 or wma cd's. Also the firmware upgrade is the easiest thing to do. If you need help or have questions on the upgrade go to www.iriver.com. The remote is very nicely built and the buttons are just well placed. This cd-player is a MUST HAVE!!
i hope this helped some people
