Pros: Small storage space, powerful motor and easy cleanup. Cons: Attached power cord.
With one owned by my grandmother, I had to go out and buy one of my own. like another poster said hers came with a detachable cord that was very handy. This cord let her fold it up and stuff it in the food pusher. The unit that I purchased has a fixed ...

Pros: Fast, Helpful, and easy to Clean up. Cons: Has to be used by and outlet.
In getting married there was one thing that my mom knew I needed. It was the salad shooter. She had one and I loved it. We used it to do more than just salads. She would make a lot of different dishes with it. The Salad Shooter is convenient, fast, ...

This is a kitchen "Must -Have"
by ktweety64 ,Nov 19 '05
Pros: Compact, easy to clean, gets the job done in seconds. Cons: NONE
I have had my salad shooter since my wedding 14 1/2 years ago. I have used it nearly every night, as we are always having shredded cheese on something. Well, the ring on it and the edge of the tumbler finally broke so now I am scrambling to replace it before Christmas. It is easy and best of all easy to disassemble and put in the dishwasher. It is also easy to store, as it is so very compact. I just love this. It is definitely my most coveted item - even with a kitchen full of Pampered Chef items. I would definitely give the Salad shooter a 5 star rating!

Handy, handy, handy
by bradshawcl in Home and Garden, - Top 500,Feb 17 '04
Pros: Handy, quicker than doing it yourself Cons: putting it together
My mother had one of these, and when I moved out, I really missed it.
The one she had is older and it had a detachable cord, but the one I have does not. It is better to me because I had problems with the cord falling out all the time. I also think the cord is longer now, too.
It comes with a unit that plugs into the wall, which has detachable parts for washing. The washable parts are the 2 blades, the food pusher, the column and a little ring that locks the blade into place. Now, when you put the column back on the unit, it must lock into place or it won't work. Sometimes, it gets annoying trying to put it into place.
It comes with 2 blades, 1 for slicing, and 1 for shredding. It works well for shredding cheese, potatoes for hash browns, and slicing radishes for salads.
Overall, it is a good little slicer/shredder. It does get cumbersome sometimes trying to put the column back to the unit. But I would rather do that and it be washable rather than not being able to take it apart and wash it.
