Pros: Value, sound quality, nice display, easy operation and menu, package contents. Cons: A little static 'pop' at the start of songs (sometimes), can't change the battery.
The idea of an MP3 player with more than the seemingly standard 128mb / 256mb (memory) and less than the 20gb / 40gb (hard drive) was appealing to me. Too little storage is no good because it then becomes a pain in the neck to constantly get fresh music ...
Pros: EASE OF USE WITH WINDOWS XP Cons: SMALL BUTTONS AND TOGGLE SWITCH
PROS: I have had my Lyra Jukebox since Christmas 2003. I am using Windows XP and have found the player to be incredibly easy to use. Windows XP automatically recognizes the player to be an external hard drive. All I had to do was load the Lyra ...
Pros: Small
easy to navigate
Circuit City has nice employees and good return policy Cons: sound quality is poor!!
software
mine died!!
I got the player because it was small and I didn't think I had more than 1.5 gigs of music. I was wrong, I had more than 1.5 gigs of music. But that is beside the fact. I was attracted to the small size of the player. I could not believe how small the ...
Pros: easy to understand menus, 1.5 GB, small, charge lasts a long time Cons: case blocks controls, seizing problem, max volume acceptable but wished it was louder
Oh my gosh! Can't believe I fixed my RD2760 after all that I read -- searched and searched and couldn't find an answer. Had the same problem everyone else cites -- seizes up at RCA logo upon startup and made clicking sound. Here's what I did: When I ...
Pros: good display for all songs, great design using toggle wheel (that sometimes also screws up) Cons: everything that i mentioned below PLEASE READ.
ok im just going to talk about the cons because there is nothing to brag about this unit AT ALL...it's not worth any money you spend on it, in the long run you will get frustrated I GAURUNTEE IT! - battery life does not last a advertised "15 hours" im ...
Pros: Excellent sound with many options. Too many features to list. Excellent jog wheel on player. Cons: It took 3 hours to become familiar with the software and set up the computer.
I found the sound and headphones excellent. Player includes a host of sound options from rap to flat as well as a fully functional graphic equalizer. The software loaded well onto my Windows XP computer and the MusicMatch system works very well. The software converts CDs to MP3s in just minutes and loads them directly to your music library. Downloading and profiling was quick and simple with the SYNCHRONIZE feature on the "send to portable device feature" in the file menu. This little player is packed with features at a price that compares to the 256MB players.
I Love the RCA Lyra 1.5 GB Player by aperana ,Aug 21 '05
Pros: Tiny, tiny, tiny, and the battery seems to last me for days. Cons: Do NOT format. My first one seized up after formatted. Costco replaced no problem.
The body is probably the nicest thing about the RCA Lyra. Tiny. About two inches by two inches, and an inch thick. The buttons are where they should be and easy to access. If you cannot appreciate the design of this player, you are spoiled.
THE WORST PURCHASE IN HISTORY by flaameboy7 ,Jun 04 '04
Pros: cheaper than the ipod Cons: a $200 dollar paper weight.
I purchased the RCA lyra mini-jukebox six months ago for $200 and it has entirely and completely died on me. I contacted RCA about a replacement and they were unhelpful and unfriendly in addressing my problem. Their only solution was to pay $60 to have the unit replaced, with no guarantee of how long the unit would last after that. I would never purchase this product again, as it was slow, had terrible sound quality, was difficult to use while doing anything active, and came with terrible software. I will never purchase anything RCA made again, and I hope readers of this will never purchase this product.
Really good, not perfect... by deegola ,Feb 15 '04
Pros: 1.5 gigabytes, battery life, sound & size Cons: glitches in OS, slow song switching
A few more firmware/software updates is all this little baby will need to really hit home. I have only had some trouble when synchronizing literally 300+ songs at once....(sometimes I have to restart once or twice)...But other than that, it's great!
The pro's would be that the battery life, sound and size are all great..and being able to put any kind of file in there is a big plus too.....especially since your working with 1.5 gigs.
The cons are that it's a bit slow to switch from song to song, you can't edit your library (like delete, rename etc..) from within the device.
This product has a lot of hope though, with only a few glitches in the OS, I see no reason why I wouldn't recommend this device. It is very nice having 300+ songs at your disposal!
Everything I was looking for. by raddray ,Dec 30 '03
Pros: USB 2.0 Drag and Drop
Display
MP3Pro support
Battery life
Cons: Needs a better case.
battery not user replaceable.
It shows up as a drive on my Windows xp laptop. Just drag files over to the drive and then profile the music on the player. Fast USB 2.0 connectivity, good battery life and good sound. Highly recommended! Go to the RCA website to update the system files.
Pros: great in theory, no execution on this product. Dont waste your money. Cons: Controls Stick, low quality HD (crashed twice when only used during jogging) customer service horrible
Controls Stick, low quality HD (crashed twice when only used during jogging) customer service horrible, overall this experience has soured me on any and all RCA products. I've 'owned' this unit for 2 1/2 months, but have only been able to use it for a total of 2 hours
Pros: Good size, compact, nice earphones, decent sound quality..... I really think that's it! Cons: Crashes frequently, buttons don't always respond to the touch, software sucks (not user-friendly).
It is a very cute and nifty product, but is of poor quality. I'm highly disappointed in RCA. But I guess because RCA is a crappy brand anyways.
- It crashes frequently
- The volume button has problems
- Bad customer service
- The hard drive got corrupted after 4 months and it CANNOT BE RETURNED since I live in Canada and I bought it in the U.S.
Not worth it at any price! by erratadata ,Apr 11 '04
Pros: Small Cons: Must have released a bad batch. 2 bad ones in a row is unacceptable.
I bought one at Circuit City. Loaded it up, VERY slow on a USB 1.1, software crashed several times. Finally got it loaded, went to bed, woke up the next morning and it was dead. Took it back to store, got another one, and it wouldn't even power up. Got my money back and spent a bit more on an iPod.
Pros: Price$160 good for 1.5GBplayer. Nice size. Nice headphones. Cons: Quality. Somebody sent out bad batch of software. Non-removable battery last only upto 6 hours.
Returned 3 times. Looking for something else now. First crashed completely. Second crashed lightly a few times, and the software CDRom was bad. Third had same bad CDRom, as did 4 more that a Costco employee opened and checked for me.
Buyer Beware - Thomson service by phila418 ,Oct 24 '04
Pros: Small Size, sound quality Cons: Quality, service from Thomson, wrist band cover, block access to display/controls
I bought the RD2760 and used it for two weeks (owned it for one month) before experiencing a hard disk crash.
Be aware that Thomson is a French company marketing the RCA brand and you are dealing with Thomson.
The repair center in Socorro, Texas has the following policies on items sent to them
1. They usually don't repair, they replace
2. New stock is earmarked for retail sales and unless they have enough, there will be no replacement units available.
3. There is a mandatory 60 day wait before they will consider refunding your money (if it can't be fixed and there are no replacements)
Thus, although my unit was signed for on Sept 13, they claim their records show it was not received until Sept 17. Therefore, I must wait until November 16 (60 days) to find out if I will get a replacement or a refund.
Personally, I am not too hopeful that I will ever see my money or a replacement unit, based on phone calls with them to date.
Writing to customer service and to the CEO in France yielded no response.
