Pros: RCA name-brand, learning sensor at bottom instead of top Cons: Overcomplicated and underuseful macro process, no backlighting, underutilized LCD
I did not have this unit for long enough to give it a thorough test, but I had it long enough to determine that it did not meet my needs. For me, the major drawback was the limited macro programming ability. It can only store up to six ...

Remote not up to expectations.
by photo2001 ,Nov 01 '05
Pros: Controls up to 8 devices. Large size makes it unlikely to misplace. Cons: Flaky LCD display.
I just got this remote tonight, and was excited to use it to replace
a bunch of other remotes that aren't working as well as they used
to. One thing that struck me first is, this is a BIG remote. That
doesn't bother me. In fact, I have trouble with small buttons,
and you're less likely to misplace a large remote.
I immediately programmed it for my television. It took awhile because
the LCD display times out after about 10 seconds. Once
I did program it, it controlled my television without a hitch.
The thing I'm not happy about is the flaky LCD display. For
example, the display shows the time, except that one
number doesn't show properly. Sometimes it shows
part of a number, sometimes most of the number, but
never all of the number. Also, the display has a time-out
feature as I mentioned. This is an energy saving feature.
Well, one time, the display wouldn't time out. I had to
remove the batteries and put them back in. Not acceptable
for a fairly expensive remote. I will be returning it
for a replacement and hope that one works better.

RCU807 Remote Control
by trehouse ,Mar 28 '05
Pros: For some, this unit will likely work fine replacing a few remotes. Cons: Strange layout of keys.
Poor layout and lack of ability to program Bose surround system and Scientific Atlanta cable box / DVR make this unit a waste of time for me. Additionally, no backlit keys and a virtually unusable LCD display (except for programming) make this unit one to skip.
