DUAL WAKE DIGITAL AM/FM TUNING CLOCK RADIO all I ever wanted to wake up TO

by chiminou , Dec 18 '04
Pros: Backlit LCD display, dual wake times, digital tuner, compact.
Cons: Display could be larger
I searched a while to find a radio/alarm/clock AC powered WITH an LCD display. All the ones I could find were powered via batteries only.. I finally found this one at my local "canadian tire" store on sale for 24.99$ (plus tax), and originally ...

I love everything about it, but it can't keep time!

by genegoddess , Apr 22 '05
Pros: Nice face, dual alarm times displayed, digital radio, "Graduwake", small size
Cons: (Sigh) It really does gain time.
This is my first review, so be kind: I SO wanted to like this clock radio. It has every feature I'm looking for (except nature sounds, but you can't have everything). It has a small footprint (5in wide x 4in tall x 3in deep), but is still low slung. ...

Always in Tune!

by wiggiegee , Mar 15 '05
Pros: Digital Tuner. Dual Alarm (which is always visible). Battery Backup.
Cons: Poor sound. Analog volume control.
I bought this alarm clock to replace an old cheap alarm clock that the tuning kept drifting off the station by morning. This one, with a digital tuner, did the trick! I've found it is a very good product, with plenty of features: Dual alarms, which ...

Tiny but feature-packed
by jhmeyers ,Feb 25 '05
Pros: Incredibly many features
Cons: Very small speaker, modest sound, mono of course
11 Digital pre-sets plus continuous auto-scan,
two wake-ups (each can be by beeper or radio), completely
adjustable and separate snooze, sleep, and nap times,
battery will sound beeper alarm even if power fails.

Fall asleep to one radio station and wake to another station
(also remembers last AM and last FM station tuned),
bright/dim/off display (bright whenever buttons are operated),
every pre-set can be either AM or FM, the pre-sets can even
automatically find an empty slot to store themselves!

Kudos to all that engineering!

I own two (home and office), and neither has ever
gained any time or "jumped" ahead. My Wal-Mart unit
has a bright and evenly lit display; my eBay-bought
unit looks spanking new but displays more dimly, primarily on
one side -- can't tell whether defect or prior owner abuse.

I got them just to have really quick and accurate digital tuning,
and found more additional features than I ever imagined!

DON'T BUY THIS WORTHLESS CLOCK
by jakemo ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: ??
Cons: Jumps crazy amounts of time
All reviews are true. This clock can't keep time. I've had mine for about 2 1/2 months, and the first time it "jumped" time I thought it was just me. I've had a few instances now where it gains time extremely fast.

I have been setting the clock every night before I go to bed, only maybe 5, 10 minutes off. Last night in the span of 4 1/2 hours it gained 3 1/2 hours in time. Nothing more annoying than being woken up at 3:15 in the morning and thinking its time to go to work. After resetting the stupid thing to the correct time, it gained another hour and a half, and woke me up early again. Like I said above, this isn't the first instance of this happening.

I smashed the clock and am looking for a better one. If you are looking at this, do yourself a favor and don't buy it.

Inaccurate time!!
by cgi101 ,Jan 10 '04
Pros: great features, nice backlight
Cons: the clock runs too fast on some
I bought this clock at future shop in canada (owned by Best Buy) and I noticed that every day it gained 10-20 minutes! I would set it every night, and in the morning it would be ahead in time. I returned it, and bought the same clock from Zellers, but that one had the same problem too. (UPDATE BELOW) I also found the green light from the snooze button, and the screen backlight, to be a bit to bright in my room in my room at night. Otherwise, the clock was great. It was only $29 canadian, and was jam-packed with features. I like the way the buzzer gets louder and louder, and the NAP feature.

I can't recommend this clock because of the fact that it can't keep time properly?!

***UPDATE

I exchanged for a third one... It finally keeps the time properly! When I went to the store to exchange it, I looked at the "Date Code" which is written on the side of the box. It doesn't seem to be a date number (like 12/04/04) but a random number like 6789450... I just box with the highest number (perhaps newer?) and it happened to work!

What good is a clock that can't keep time?
by captaindigital ,Dec 20 '04
Pros: Nice design. Dual alarm. Digital tuner. Easy programming.
Cons: It gains an hour every 24 hours. It's USELESS!
I bought the RCA RP3710 Digital Clock radio about 6 months ago. Until last week, everything was fine. First problem: the backlight went out. Strangely, the next morning, when the alarm went off, the backlight came back on. (!) After that, it started gaining about 30 minutes every 12 hours. I'm really unhappy - up until now it was a great clock, at a reasonable price. After searching the web, I see that this problem is far from unique. I wonder if/when RCA is going to do something about this. With as many people complaining as there are, the problem has got to be a design flaw or a sub-standard part.

What gives, RCA?

It looked OK in the store !
by stan3 ,Jul 16 '04
Pros: Has all the features I require. Good price. Sturdy (won't tip over).
Cons: Serious timekeeping problem. Confusing controls. Unclear explanations in user guide.
This bedside alarm clock seemed to have the exact features that I needed. Dual alarm - with the displays permanently shown, backup battery, preset radio stations, nap time, etc.
I did find the controls quite confusing but eventually got used to them. The users guide could have made clearer explanations. Unfortunately, I had a serious problem with the clock in that the current time jumps forward 10 or 20 minutes once or twice a day for no reason. I thought it may have been "finger trouble" at first, but it did the same without any of the controls being touched. I will return the clock to the store today, but will ask for it to be changed to another one (same model) because if that problem is isolated to only my clock, there is enough about it that I like otherwise.
For now though, I can only give it the very lowest rating as the timekeeping issue is obviously unacceptable.

Faulty Product
by compro1 ,Dec 30 '03
Pros: Compact
Cons: Cannot keep time. Worthless.
I purchased this product in Wal-Mart about a month ago. The first time I noticed the time advanced I thought it was me, but by the third, fourth, fifth, etc. time I kinda of figured it was this crappy clock. I urge anyone who has this product to write a review and to call customer services at RCA and complain.

Faulty product or lemon?
by jbonds ,Dec 03 '03
Pros: I like the radio feature. Alarm is loud.
Cons: Antenna is weak. Clock gains time.
I recently purchased an RCA RP3710 Dual Wake Clock Radio. I have had the radio for since November 23, 2003 and have noticed that it gains about 20 minutes per day! After about 4 days, it adds up! It's a great product with great features, it just has some flaws! I'm not sure if it's just mine (lemon), or if it's all of them (faulty product). I would like to know what experiences others have had with this clock radio.

I purchased the radio at Wal-Mart Supercenter.
