I bought this camera about 8 months ago after holding out in investing in a digital camera for so long. I saw it in the store and tried it out. It was easy, and had a good name. I slept on it, and when I went back to buy it they were all sold out. ...
Pros: great image color and detail, compact size. SD memory card Cons: eats batteries FAST!- no lens cover.
As a former photographer doing everything from weddings to rodeos, portraits, wildlife, etc. I might have an informed perspective of the Samsung Digimax 301 digital camera. We had an HP camera some time ago that ate batteries and eventually fizzled ...
Pros: Excellent price, clearly written manual. Cons: Macro switch is easily forgotten, resulting in blurry shots.
I just got this today, so bear with me and I'll update the review if I find any new features :) You can get the hard numbers from Epinions' detail

Pros: compact, excellent price, great pictures, easy-use, 16 Mb built-in memory and produces video with sound Cons: no optical zoom (not a big deal)
After a long search and try-outs of 3.0 MP digital cameras from reputable brand names, I found DIGIMAX 301 from SAMSUNG an excellent acquisition. I bought it from WalMart (near $ 118 bucks), a great price for a really nice camera. I have seen some notes ...
Pros: Great macro close ups, sepia mode, Good quality 3 megapixel pictures. Cons: No optical zoom, only digital. Can't choose your ISO speed
I have a HP 3.1 MP Photosmart PS435v as well, and this camera blows it out of the water. The Samsung cost about 118.00 and the hp was 128.00. The Samsung has a great Macro switch on the side that make it easy to get great close up shots, that is ...
Pros: picture quality, video quality, value, size, Overall It's A Winner. Cons: if there has to be a con, it would be the battery life.
I purchased this camera about a week ago, at first i was annoyed with the beeps, but i figured their had to be a way to turn the beeps off, and there was! I bought this product since it was only $100, and had more mega pixels then i would ever need, ...
Pros: neatly design, excellent and clean photos, camcorder, camera, voice recorder its just the best Cons: battery life poor but there are alternatives
This is just a great camera...great thinking Samsung...thumbs up!!!!
The camera is very user friendly....cute and well compact. Excellent photo settings hence produces very clean and clear pictures. Got my Digimax 301 over a month now and i cant help but admire it every day...my friends love it...i get to take many pictures that are easily uploaded to my pc for printing..and thats just hype..i love it..and would invest in it all over again...its sad that i have to be spending so much on batteries...but there's always re-chargeables and the adapter options....
Recently bought and so far I like it by slonezemama ,May 24 '04
Pros: small, good clear pictures, audio capable Cons: I haven't really found any yet.
Just recently purchased this camera, and though I am still exploring with it, so far, I can't say that I am really disappointed in any way. All the pictures that I have taken and emailed have been very good pictures. Sharp, clear images even while traveling down the highway at 55MPH, the pictures I took came out alot clearer than I expected.
I love the audio feature on it as well.
I'm quiet surprised that this little camera is capable of producing so many nice features.
Personally, I like mine, and would recommend it to anyone who ask me about it. :)
Pros: Excellent picture quality, easy to use. Cons: i haven't found anything i don't like so far.
This was my first digital camera. I have had it over a year. I wouldn't want any other camera after using this one. It takes excellent pictures, it's easy to use. A friend of mine bought a kodak digital camera. She says mine takes better pictures. You can hook it up to your tv for a slide show or easily download them to your pc.
Great Camera! (You can easily get rid of the beeps) by beareys1979 ,Jan 13 '05
Pros: Compact, Many settings including low light, nice big screen comparatively Cons: Battery life isn't very long.
I've seen quite a few reviews about the annoying beeps. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to turn them off. The features on this camera are great! I have fallen in love with it. With a compact size, and great picture quality, this is a great value!
Good price, no so good pictures!! by pielcanela29 ,Oct 21 '04
Pros: Good price for a 3.2 mp Cons: Endless beeping, poor picture quality, color fade, red eyes, too much to retouch
I bought this camera based on the reviews. The camera has a good price for 3.2mp, but the endless beeping is annoying. The video feature is not so good neither due to the fact the video is capture by a sequence of picture shots. Different from a Sony in comparison. I took couple of picture at the highest quality (2048xsomething) and the picture was not so good. The red eyes on every picture were a bit disappointing. I would have to work every picture on my computer to get it right.
Instead I returned the Samsung Digimax 301 and I bought a Sony Cyber-Shot DSCP41 4.1 and the quality was impressive. With my Samsung even the cloths colors will fade out a bit, nothing you could not fix in Photoshop, but why to bother if you can get a better camera for just about $60 more.
What a great little sleeper! by fox-fire ,Nov 24 '04
Pros: Cheap, compact, durable, clear pics, video clip with sound capability. Cons: Power consumption, red eyes.
I've used Canon SLR's for over 20 years, Epson's high end digital cameras, and I have to say this little Samsung makes equal if not better pictures! What a surprise!
If you set the resolution down to 1024x768 it will surprise you even further by holding up to 100 pics in memory.
Autofocus, timer, macro, 3x zoom, and a two minute video clip WITH sound add to the pluses on this handy little pocket camera.
Unless you're shooting action shots, which it handles quite well, I'd suggest using a tripod because of the slow shutter time.
Simple enough for kids, but enough bells and whistles to keep the purist happy tinkering with it.
Be sure to buy a battery recharger because it WILL use up all it's battery power if you shoot 100 pics with it.
There is an optional DC input on the camera so if you use it indoors all the time, just plug it into the wall.
I use Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.1 for tweaking up the shots and it takes care of little annoyances like red eyes quite well.
THE WORST CAMERA EVER!!!! by ihatedigimax ,Dec 02 '07
Pros: Small,Cute Cons: System Flaws, Heavy, Blurry!, Bad battery life!!!
I bought this camera 2 1/2 years ago as my first camera at Wal-Mart! On the display it looked pretty nice and "Looked" like it took good pictures. Got it home and took it out of the box. It was missing the software!!!!!!! I didn't think much of that at the time but then I started taking pictures and they were blurry and distorted!!!!!! I went to take it back but they wouldn't let me return it because the software was missing! Now, the pictures on the screen show up blurry and then get lines through them!!!!!!!!!!!!! It shuts off while i'm taking a picture sometimes!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The battery life is BAD!!!!
Surprisingly not a very good camera by subrot0 ,May 04 '04
Pros: 3 megapixels, low price, comes with all accessories, built in memory chip holds 16 pictures. Cons: Dull, heavily pixelated pictures, unfocussed which was unexpected.
I like Samsung products. They are quite good. Which is why I wanted to buy a Samsung digital camera. It was a very good price and I had very high expectations.
I was not able to load the software on my Windows ME computer (it maybe my fault). I was able to load it on my Windows 2000 computer.
The pictures turned out to be dull, muddy and in some cases blurred beyond recognition. My wife (a Luddite) had great deal of difficulty taking pictures because her fingers kept getting on the lens. I used the camera in the best possible light and still the pictures came out dull, somewhat dark.
Because of Samsung's strong product line I wondered if I was doing something incorrectly. I read the instruction manual rather carefully but the picture quality did not improve.
I am strongly disappointed with this camera. I like Samsung products a great deal. I have their television, DVD player, microwave and monitor. All of which are uniformly very very good. Which is why this camera's poor performance was so surprising.
